  • Check out this walk and talk around a wonderful example of the last year of the first generation Mercury Sable wagon! This is a pretty loaded example that for whatever reason ended up in the junkyard. We show all aspects of it and discuss what we're seeing, so come along for the ride, there's plenty of space here! Subscribe and Like (and turn on notifications to be notified of new videos!) and we'll keep making these. Thanks!

As you walk around and point out the "quirks and features" at the end of it's life, I can't help but imagine that at the beginning of its life, a salesman did the exact same thing to the person who bought it brand new. kind of a fitting circle of life for the wagon.

Great video, thanks a lot. Such a shame Tauri/Sable had gagbage slushboxes - it has been a very good car overall.

Yes that blue one was very nice and most of the good bits did get taken, but not this one for some reason even though it was just as good.

Either a bad headgasket which the 3.8's were known for or a bad transmission probably finished this one off.Nice cars when they were new.Not so much as they aged.

Funny we live in a culture where we junk decent cars and buy grossly overpriced new ones, that are almost guaranteed to have some fatal engineering flaw in them. And if they don’t, than repairs costs 3 to 5x more than the maintenance for that one.

wow i wonder why it was scrapped in such great condition. these are pretty rare nowadays. it was pretty optioned out but i think a digital dash, leather and buckets probably wouldve made it a top of the line sable

It could have. Didn’t most LS come with leather and a moonroof, though?

@@plworld5315 Dunno if most had leather or moonroof. It was probably an uncommon option.

@@ironinquisitor3656 this is admittedly random and kind of weird but i like luxury station wagons and they did make at least some with that. They were even bucket sometimes with a power antenna, JBL sound and digital dash

@@plworld5315 Same here. Bucket seat wagons were pretty rare, especially on Gen 1s. I like the Gen 1 Taurus and Sables the best because they were a lot more customizable and depending on the model year you could get the digital dash on every trim, same with other options. The later ones for the Taurus it was only on GL and LX and all Sable trims it was an option. With the Gen 2 Taurus and Sables it was only an option on Sable LS and on a Taurus GL from 1993-1995 if it had the flex fuel Vulcan. I have a 1992 Sable LS wagon with the digital cluster and electronic climate control.

@@ironinquisitor3656 we speak the same language! I had a 92 Sable GS that was loaded without the leather & sunroof but had the other stuff including a nicer velour. What was weird to me was how hodgepodge it was - the early 90s explorer, for example, had some GLTs with more options then some Eddie Bauers. Same here - you could load the 1st & 2nd gen GS/GL (up to 95) up with more bells & whistles than some LS/LX versions

This one was at Iron Ridge and Metal in Windsor, CO, but it isn't there anymore, I happened upon it the last day it was there. Most of my videos are in Colorado with some in Arizona and a few in New Mexico.
