  • A new 10-bed resuscitation unit for seriously ill patients has been opened at Northampton General Hospital. The £1 million unit allows us to care for twice as many patients needing intensive medical and nursing care.
This new resuscitation area means we have the equipment we need, the space we need and now the nursing staff to look after patients until they are well enough and stable enough to move to intensive care or to another ward or hospital.
With 10 bays, the new unit doubles the resuscitation capacity in the emergency department.
The new unit has specialist equipment for treating critically-ill babies as well as facilities for delivering a baby urgently. There's also a specialist bay dedicated facilities for stroke cases.

I have been in this untit and it is excellent. However I think its an utter disgrace that ALL water coolers have been removed from A&E just to save the NHS a bit of money. How on earth are patients supposed to get better, if they do not have access to cool fresh water to drink!?
