despite agreeing that this is not the best stephen king book , I have to say ,it still is one novel full with suspense and chills. The hability that the writer has of transforming man's best friend into something that is trully savage is amazing , and fitting due to the fact that the book is in a sense a way of removing the advantages humanty has granted it self , namely tecnology .
Also about the subplots , I can't defend the one about the dad , but I always thought that the family that owned cujo was a parallel for the trenton .
Anyway , If there is any gramatical or spelling mistakes I apologise , English is not my main language .Great video ,keep up the good work , and I hope to see more stephen king book reviews in the future

Thank you for taking the time to comment! I did love the description of Cujo in this book, and of the fear that some greater evil was at work, but I struggled to get through this one, and felt little connection to the characters. The sub plot with the dog's owners was better than that of Vic, I agree, but I still felt underwhelmed.
I will certainly be reviewing more of Stephen King in the future, I own many of his books, so stay tuned, and happy reading :)

Donna’s affair seems to trigger the events in Cujo, with Tad’s death as a harsh consequence. King might be exploring how fate or God balances the scales, punishing Donna while also freeing Charity Camber from her abusive husband. It’s as if fate used this tragedy to change lives in different ways.

I agree. I just finished this book and I personally feel like this was a short story stretched thin with the two side stories. I can see where Vic and Charity's arcs funnel into Donna and Tad's situation, but I still found my eyes rolling when yanked away from the Camber's place. Towards the end I found myself challenging the story much like Donna challenged Cujo. Come on already. I give it a 7/10 because the good parts are really good, but the filler isn't even good filler. Just my two cents! Thanks for the video!!

Thank you for your comment. Not many do agree with me on this one. I think the idea and description of this murderous, once friendly dog is so enticing and thrilling that they're ok with other parts of the story. It's still a good book , just not a great one

I felt similarly but in the opposite manner. The parts about Donna and Tad in the car bored the death out of me. There’s only so many ways to say “it’s hot and they’re thirsty.”
The Vik side story with the ad agency was actually the most interesting part of the book for me. I like the relationship between Vik and his partner. I liked listening to Vik’s emotional turmoil and rationalization after finding out about Donna’s adultery.
The Charity/Brett side story was boring though.
I’d also give the book a 5.5/10. The ending felt cheap. The character that died was alive 45 seconds ago but during the climactic battle that character just happens to die. Phony bologna.

Surprised that your review was so negative. The struggles between the Vic and Donna seemed quite real. Being married with children and also running my own business, needing to network with clients and the stresses of possibly losing business contracts especially when you have a family, everything hit home for me... All of this in a time where there were no cell phones makes this all the more scary and visceral. Cujo and Pet Semetary are two of the best books I've read...

I feel like when a writer is on a bender of drugs their stories tend to have a lot more should I say "grit"

Dude I remember watching this movie in real time in 1983. I was 13 years old at time. Recall seeing fellow classmate at that screening at local mall. I was scared to death of that dog. I recall seeing fellow classmate a day or so later at first day of class of 7th grade in school yard. We were lining up to enter grade school. She and I talked about that movie when we first seen each other. Her name was Janine. Just memories.......

Well, i disagree with all the bad reviews this book has in here. I think this is one of the best King`s books. It was raw and chilling. And i like the fact that there is no supernatural stuff; what happens could happen in real life.

I don't know if anybody noticed this but for those not familiar with King's work; Cujo is Stephen King's The Shining repackaged.

I stayed up till 3am today to finish Cujo and honestly this book is amazing and the idea of a rabid dog being the bad guy is great and all but for me the last 100 pages were the best and there were around 50 half way through the book that were boring and a bit too slow for me. The ending was sad and I though that we will see more of Charity but overall for me its a 10/10

I thought some of the passages in the book surrounding Donna’s affair with Steve Kemp were unnecessarily crude and gross - the note and what he does to the bed. Donna’s final showdown with Cujo is a total gorefest!

I haven't finished the book yet. But so far I like it way more than I did The Shining. The Shining to me was really boring. And I didn't even finish it. The movie is far more entertaining than the book, as far as The Shining goes. That's just my opinion.

Fun fact: when Stephen king wrote Ciao the summer of 1981 he was a addicted alcoholic and he doesn't "remember writing this" and of course he wrote a physiological horror drunk for months and possibly published the novel drunk too.
Surprised he got it published being drunk that summer of 1981.
    Want to read it.
My first novel of his was 2020's Billy Summers.
I want Carrie, Cujo, It, The Shining, Doctor Sleep and maybe Salem's Lot and ill be satisfied with his work.

I was reading it for the first time a few days back and I totally see what you mean about the advertising part being stretched out too far and being somewhat irrelevant. I actually almost gave up because of it. But then I looked up some facts about Cujo and read that fact that he doesn’t remember much about writing it. And when I saw the laundry list of substances he was abusing while writing, the ranting was explained and I pushed through 😂 I liked the book aside from the ad rants though.

Charity was the most annoying character ever.
The character development is great but I agree, the advertising bullshit arc was pointless in annoying
