Thank you Jen for saying don't let people make you feel bad about not making everything from scratch like almost all other channels. You are real for working moms, I don't have time to make homemade granola, bread, beans etc!
Just a tip on the boxed pizza: mix the pizza dough in the morning and refrigerate it all day while you're gone. It has yeast in it and that needs time to rise and develop flavors. It tastes much better and gives a headstart on your dinner.
I have to feed myself for the month for 100.00. Choices are always made. Oh and that included cleaning supplies and tp. Ive learned to make food stretch. I take away tips from you. Thank you! Example. 30 sausage patties from 2 lbs of pork and adding my own spices. Where there's a will there's a way!â€
This is a great video! A full week of meals for a reasonable amount during this inflation and not everything is cooked from scratch. I agree, who has time for that all the time. Also, I get tired of CZcamsrs always talking about clearance food items. Not all of us have access to that. So I appreciate the great ideas with a regular budget.
@@jennyrieras431I literally never have clearance items at my stores either. Never have seen any at HyVee. Once in awhile Iâll see clearance bakery items at Walmart but thatâs about it.
Iâm from Utah and we do tater tot casserole too! Sometimes weâll use cream of celery too. I love that you cater to us working moms because so many CZcamsrs that are sahm just donât understand the time that everything takes. We barely have time to keep things picked up- let alone an hour for dinner!
This is a great realistic video. We live in a food dessert so I have to make all our food at home so I definitely appreciate quick easy meals. And sometimes Iâm just tired. Life is busy! I canât stand it when people feel the need to food shame others about how they cook or feed their families. Thank you for the ideas!
Yes!! Tater tot hotdish-the BEST. and the pizza kit was the only pizza we had growing up. SO good!! Great video. A realistic week of budget meals without the "extreme" component . Thank you!!
Jen I have been watching you for four years now I have never missed a video I just love all of your videos. Thank you for all the support and the effort and the time you do and give us. Love you always and forever your true fan.
Hi đ Jen I was so excited to see another video as I canât get enough. This was a fantastic video with so much food for $100.00. I know some people might still think itâs not a lot but wow it is, you fed your family for a week. It just shows that we can still eat cheaply and yes its not all popular brand names but itâs time to get over that. Very inspirational Jen and a lot of people could definitely put these ideas to good use. Hugs đ€
Thanks for this video!!! Very timely and great information. Youâve never lost sight of how many people and working parents are still struggling. I was a single parent of two kids and I wish you would have had your videos then , they would have given me such great ideas!!! Even though Iâm in a better place now I never forget where I came from and I see you donât lose sight of where came from either!!! So important and such a great role model for your kids!! Keep doing what you doâ€â€â€â€â€â€â€
Hi Jen! Thank you for this video. I love shopping hauls on a budget to see how other families put meals together. I enjoyed how you budgeted everything out without the feeling that times are tight right now. I'm from NY, and I have never made tater tot casserole before. I'm going to give it a try. I love making what my CZcams friends are cooking because I feel as if I shared in the dinner with you. Is that crazy? â€
This was a wonderful idea and I loved all of your options! As far as the Great Value brand I have to agree that most things I purchase are just great. And I love scalloped potatoesâŠI usually do it from scratch but I have made it from the box mix and it is surprisingly very yummy! Thanks for all of the ideas and Iâd love to see you do this again.
Lol not Jen saying "who has time to make scalloped potatoes on a week night" and that's exactly what I did last night đ Great video!! Thanks for the ideas!
Iâm from MN and tater tot hot dish is a staple!!! Goulash is another staple!!! Amazing comfort food! Fun factâŠin SD where I grew up pizza was a very special treat! My mom would by a pizza kit and that is all we usedâŠno added meat or cheeseâŠand we thought we were in heaven!đ. Have a great week!!!
We grew up on the Chef Boy r Dee pizza kits in a box. It was a treat because pizza wasnât common like it is now. I donât even think they sell those kits anymore. EDIT: I stand corrected! Jen found a pizza kit!
My first serious relationship was with someone from Minnesota, her mom made all kind of hot dish I adapted one of her recipes to use ground turkey and I still make it today its a tater tot hot dish but a little healthier.
Just found your channel. I really liked your meal plan and Iâm going to adopt your meal prep for like breakfast and lunch. You knocked it out of the park with your evening meals. Thank you and I immediately subscribed. Please donât more of these. They are so helpful. â€â€â€
I feed my family of four on about $350 a month used to be $250 unfortunately I just canât do that most the time. Do we have all the snacks nopeee but my kids have a meals and left overs pretty much every day!! Very doable you just have to put in a little effort!
Great ideas! I've never had tater tor casserole but it looks delicious! I'm so glad you make things do simple and always make sure we know there's no shame in using convenience items!
This is a great thing! Thank you for doing these. I do my beans in the crockpot usually. I will wash and then soak them in the crock overnight, then just season and turn it on low in the morning.
I used the Chef Boyardee pizza mix for years. My kids loved it growing up. The one I bought has sauce and shaky cheese (aka grated parmesan) with it. I usually browned off some kind of ground meat with onion. And did a hamburger pizza. Sometimes I just used the packet of cheese that came with it. Other times I bought mozzarella and added it. Great video!
This was a great video! People should never overlook bags of rice or grains. Depending on your meal plan these will cook in the same amount of time it takes to make and cook everything else. Just start them first and in about 20-25 mins they are done.
I love Tater Tot Casserole! We call it Grandmaâs Casserole. It is definitely a comfort food. I also prefer my tater tots crispy so I put them in the oven while I prepare the rest of the casserole to give them a jumpstart. This is definitely a doable meal plan, thank you!
Great video Jen. I think you did a great job for $100 for a family of four. I spend that much just for myself. Great recipe ideas. Have a great weekend.
I really appreciate you mentioned your kids breakfast preferences. I see many budget hauls where I think "no way all their kids will/can eat the same foods!"
Oh my gosh Jen I didn't know they still made those pizza kits. I used to make those with my kids when they were younger. It taste so much better then carry out lol. I will have to look for that next time I shop. Lol. Thank you a great video as usual.â€
Finally... a shopping haul that looks more like mine. I work, and I have health issues and kids in Middle & High school. 2 days a week I work 9 hour days wothout breaks (my choice) on my feet on the cement. So u can bet I have convenience foods. God knows the last thing I have is energy to cook for hours or even 1 hour sometimes. So thank you đ
Those great value mixed chili beans are my absolute favorite. I don't make chili without them now. And it's funny, I've lived in missouri my whole life and have never heard of tater tot casserole until recently watching it on other's CZcams channels. Lol
Just a thought but all moms are working moms, whether they stay at home or notđ some ideas from a stay at home mom who homeschools 4 kids, runs a side hustle and makes almost everything from scratch, buy an instant pot, learn how to make Sourdough because its so quick and flexible, learn how to preserve foods, eat simpler đ
Just a tip, Costco has the organic string cheese, double the number of cheese sticks, for half the price. They taste fantastic (Kraft tastes like chemical filled plastic to me) and are a better deal than the bag of 8-12 at the grocery (non-organic.) Also, I picked up a bread maker at our thrift store (and see them there regularly) and it makes it very easy, just put the ingredients in, and 90 min to 3 hrs later, itâs done with no babysitting (also makes pizza dough, etc) tastes a lot better than store bread (which the decent kind is $5-7 a loaf here) freezes well, so that is a faster way to get inexpensive, healthy bread. Bread maker was $6 at thrift store.
I ran to my local Kroger store (Smith's in Utah) this afternoon to get a few things one of which was the butter flavor Crisco shortening sticks. $7.99!!! The last time I bought those I think I paid $4.99. Insane. đź

True to certain extent yet the question is...does one have more time than money? A lot of the meals mentioned take minutes.
Just a tip on the boxed pizza: mix the pizza dough in the morning and refrigerate it all day while you're gone. It has yeast in it and that needs time to rise and develop flavors. It tastes much better and gives a headstart on your dinner.
