We don’t always actually know how most entertainment companies treat their employees because most of us never worked with said entertainment companies, but you do have somewhat of a point on many occasions, it usually depends on the Disney employee. If it was a studio worker, VFX artist, etc. I can DEFINITELY understand, but I’m not sure this applies to the Disney Park Cast Members, but I could be wrong.
So before making comments like this, actually do your research if you haven’t. But then again, while a lot of the anti-Disney posts, comments, jokes, etc. ARE justified in many areas, they’ve also gotten annoying since they’re everywhere and made by people who barely do research on anything and just listen to angry news reports by Far Rightist Grifters/Trump Worshippers as their source of information.

I loved this episode for showing just a little bit of Mr. Krabs trying to establish a relationship of equals with SpongeBob, and realizing what’s important about his business besides just the money. Love the commentary on commercialization, capitalism, corporate greed, etc.
“Cha Ching” is a great song for him too.

The voice actor of Carl is Carl Harvey/C.H Greenblatt (The creator of Chowder and Harvey Beaks) and he wrote some of the best episodes of the First three Seasons of the show.(And one of Season 4:Fear of Krabby Patty...literally the episode is like a begin and end of a era of the show.lol)

I don’t even know what this show would be like without SpongeBob’s laugh. That’s like Mickey Mouse without his high voice or Bugs Bunny without saying “What’s up, doc?”. It kinda what makes them iconic cartoon characters.

This episode has one of my all-time favorite lines from Mr. Krabs that proves that deep down he has a heart. (A greedy and selfish heart, but still enough of a heart to know what's right.)

i like episodes where he even thinks about spending money on people. even if he takes it back. even if his greed is hard coded into his behaviour (and possibly crabs as a whole), it shows that he has people around him that make him question or forget that fact completely for a while.
For anyone who says SpongeBob fell off after season 3, I kindly present “Selling Out”, which is highly underrated 😂
Honestly has a level of satire not seen in early SpongeBob seasons, good as they are

Oh god, I remember that period in the early aughts when sports bars were the only restaurants. I still have some of the little collectible plastic baseball hats the Ground Round used to serve ice cream to kids in.
I personally like both episodes a lot, but for me, I prefer Funny Pants. Sure, Spongebob’s laugh is used a bit excessively throughout the beginning and end (the beginning especially), but once Spongebob finally shuts up and he can no longer laugh, it gets a lot better and all the “try not to laugh” humor is very well done. Lol, also Squidward absolutely gets what he deserves.
I agree that Funny Pants is better and I also love both.
Spongebob is so annoying Squidward almost never deserves anything he gets. He only goes too far in a handful of episodes.
Squidward can't have anything good without Spongebob ruining it and then walking away with no consequences, while if Squidward ruins anything for Spongebob he gets something many times worse.
I am not sure about that. I have a lot of patience but in this episode squid ward has it more than me because I might have killed sponge Bob to make him shut up

This is the season where we get the modernize SpongeBob personality as well as Patrick, Squidward and Mr. Krabs. Sandy is more or less the same. When youre an adult nearing 40 you can relate to Squidward with annoying neighbors. And construction workers. 😂 I still watch the show and watch all the 80/90s/2000s classics too even though I'm older with no kids on my free time.

My thoughts for the episodes:
Selling out (7/10)
Good episode with good jokes and well made satire of the not-hearted industry.
Funny Pants (4/10)
Well isn't a terrible episode,have some decent jokes here and there and the plot is decent i think,but the characters are too aggresively exaggerated in here and resolution of the plot in the ending s*cked hard in my opinion.
Couldn't disagree with you more on Funny Pants. Outside of Spongebob's admittedly excessive laughter in the beginning, it's a great episode with lot of funny jokes/try not to laugh humor. And the ending was very earned for how shitty Squidward treated Spongebob.

I honestly think Squidward cruelty in this Episode is Totally understandable here because of Spongebob Laughing-a-lot cause of the First half of the Episode.
But this is Not really the biggest problem of the Episode for me,the real problem for me is the fact of the Spongebob character is really exaggerated here even more of his "emotional-like"scenes,all the Spongebob Friends are forced Stereotypes here (like Krabs is just greedy,Patrick only drive extreme dumb Jokes and Sandy is booksmart...and Nothing more than this) and the ending is pathetic for me because of the "resolution of the problem"like... Squidward Just sayed to Spongebob about the Laugh box not being a real thing...and,yeah everything is all resolved and good now"...hooray...and the ending of Squidward having the Spongebob laughbox is really creepy for me,and not in a good Way.
But don't get me wrong like i said is not awful Episode (I honestly Season 4 don't have any Episode I consider pitful) have some good Jokes and good slapstick in a Lot of scenes here and there,but overall this one isn't for me.

I personally never really had an issue with the side characters playing their "stereotypical" selves since they're only side characters in this episode (hell, Patrick gets a couple hilarious moments), unlike Spongebob and Squidward. And even though the episode would've probably been better if they pulled back on Spongebob's laughter a little bit, his emotions are very justified throughout the episode.

This actually happens to patients. I wont say how i know, but any contraband found on patients or even just items in general that are confiscated are sometimes taken by medical staff. Im just gonna say i dont work in any medical field. 👀
I kinda don't like how they showed retirement in a bad light. It's sad to be told that work is the only thing you have from boredom. If I was in Mr. Krabs's place, I would take that money in a heartbeat and never look back.
Well that really depends on the person. Believe it or not there’s other who truly find working enjoyable and filling in their life’s, it’s like part of their blood, especially if it’s a career you really enjoy and been doing your whole life, retiring and not doing work, can make some go insane, unhappy and even depressed, no matter how much money you have.
To be fair, while "Selling out" is a good episode, it should've been mainly focused on Krabs retirement and show how much meaning a job gives him to his life, thus showing there are exact same people in real life and they enjoy a job despite being in their 50's, 60's and even 70's. It's one of those rare occasions where Krabs haven't fully derailed into a plain one trait cardboard.
With that premise this episode could've punched "SpongeBob, you're fired" even further in the mud being a good example of retirement and unemployment showcase
You know the really sad part? We see Mr Krabs exploiting his employees to ridiculous levels every episode, yet the more realistic restaurant corporation is even more dystopic. Yay real life.
I wonder if Retiring is that bad.

Most of the time when people say the show went bad they're referring to seasons 6 and 7 in particular (8 too probably, but it's usually regarded as a step up)
