One of the best TMNT adaptations. The animation, the characters, the fight choreography, and the fact that they were voiced by actual teenagers are all awesome, and I love how they really focused on the turtles and Splinter as a family over them as ninjas.

I definitely don't think the art style is completely ripped from Spider-verse. Heavily influenced for sure, but with more focus on a sketchbook style over a comic aesthetic + heavy focus on asymmetry.
Well 8 artists from the first two Spider-Verse movies worked on this while the others worked on The Mitchells vs The Machines.

Yeah, it’s not a 100% rip-off. The art style definitely gives off a similar vibe but there’s differences in the animation, same with Puss in Boots: The Last Wish & Arcane. They took inspiration but put their own spin on it. I’m fine with this being the new norm.
All of these projects have been gorgeous & written with heart. I will forever be grateful for Spider-Verse. I went into that movie theater just as an MCU fan & I came out a fan of Miles Morales and had a newfound appreciation for animation. I’m glad so many other people (including film studios) felt the same way.

This might be my favourite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie to date, I just loved everything about this movie, the visuals the soundtrack, and the stellar and unique animation, and I especially love these new takes on the characters and how the turtles truly act and felt like young teenage up and coming heroes that just want to live their lives the way they want to its truly beautiful how for once in TMNT media that are actually accepted by humanity very early on their careers.
Can't wait for the sequel with Shredder and the confirmed tv show this take on the Turtles is getting.

I would never call this art style an imitation of spider verse, inspired and motivated by, for sure, but its very distinct and unique
It's just easier to say like spider-verse, because they both broke away from the standard of animation
The art style is called Imperfect Middle/high school sketch book drawings.
The characters in this movie felt like real people and the turtles felt like real teenagers. This is my favorite tmnt adaptation ever.
This movie is by far one of the best surprises of the year, and the best iteration of the Turtles I've seen in a long time, since the 2007 movie !
As for the voices, the point Seth Rogen wanted to focus on was the teenage part of teenage mutant ninja turtles, which is why he hired actual teens for the voice acting, who completely crushed it ! Also, casting his old voice acting pal Jackie chan (from Kung Fu Panda's days) as Splinter was nothing short of genius, as well as that montage of old kungfu movies explaining how they learned martial arts, and his fight choreography at the end that was very reminiscent of how Jackie fights in his movies. Who knew hiring Jackie for an actual role of a character that is crucial to the plot (as opposed to Monkey in Kungfu Panda, where he only had maybe 3 lines per movie) was actually a good move ?
Too bad you cut out the fight montage on No Diggity, that was the highlight of the movie to me.
If you can find it in a theater around you, go watch it in there, it's a movie that's definitely worthy of watching on a big screen with good sound !
The soundtrack just straight up yanked me back to the 90's.
I love the different iterations of the TMNT I also like how the artstyle is supposed to look like a teenager's sketchbook and graffiti art

I personally was able to identify their voices WAY more in this one. they sound pretty different from each other ngl lmao. leonardo projects his voice and speaks very clearly, raph has the signature raspiness and is a bit more monotone, mikey is a bit nasally and talks like he has braces (which I thought was a nice touch) and Donnie is EASILY the easiest to pick out, but it also is a bit raspy but not as growl-ish as raph.
When he said, "I was hesitant to watch this movie because it borrows the art style from Into the Spider-verse," my heart sank a little.
This movie uses the same philosophy to make something that looks visually unique and it uses a lot of the same techniques to make it as ITSV. But, this movie as well as other movies like it, like Puss in Boots: the Last Wish, DO NOT have the same art style or art direction as ITSV at all, and it upsets me some people can't tell the difference and see them all as Spider-verse imitators.
This is how you make a childrens film that actually has a fun plot and good pacing
28:35 fun fact: back when the TMNT cartoon were first screened in the UK, it was renamed Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles because the BBC (who were showing the cartoon) felt that references to ninjas were too violent to be in a children's animation

I loved this movie. My favorite part is how real world popular culture is part of the turtle's universe. Leonardo saying he would love to have champagne brunch with Tom Brady had me laughing and smiling.
Really recommend you guys check out the 2003 TMNT animated series. It was co-created by Peter Laird who was the co-creator of the TMNT comics and was one of my favourite shows growing up. It takes much inspiration from the original TMNT comics which had a much darker tone and even adapts a lot of the pages and scenes from the comics.
I second that also they should watch the 2012 one cuz that's more comic book based sort of but it's very good both 2003 and 2012 shows are my favorites
Hell yeah. 2012 one is top tier for sure, perfect blend of all iterations but the 2003 one is great too- it plays around with the Mirage lore in a lot of fun ways.

The story telling is my favorite part of this movie. They show us who the turtles are and then who they were and then finally who they’ve become.
The movie’s art and animation style isn’t really an imitation of Spider-Verse because whereas Spider-Verse’s style is clean cut, dynamic and angular this is very sketchy, messy, grungy and asymmetrical.
Spider-Verse is meant to look like a comic book, this is meant to look like the drawings you’d do in your notebook as a teenager.
It seems crazy to say that I just finished watching this Movie not so long ago than watch New Rockstars Easter Eggs in this movie till now watching you guys’ reaction is such a treat to enjoy watching 😄 the movie have some outstanding scenes, music and voices that make you feel so many different emotions. I hope for the sequels to be amazing and have some interesting plot when it comes to it.

Definitely one of the best Ninja Turtles movie I've seen in a while. Never thought that Bebop and Rockstudy would team up with the Turtles that was first but so cool to see that happen and the people of New York helping them was cool kinda reminds me of them helping out spiderman in the third movie. Ants can pick up way more than 2.5x it's own weight. Some can do 50x they're own weight, but on average we're talking 25x. It's similar to the reasoning of why Spiderman is so strong; his strength is relative to that of a spider, which is also about 50x.
You know what the messed up part is?
If the Turtles had listened to Splinter and never left the sewer, then Superfly would have been tracked down by TCRI and they would have stopped him with all their anti-mutigen guns, and he'd never have become Super Duper Fly.
And the Turtles wouldn't have even known it happened.
Mmmyeah... If Superfly could already take on an entire squad when he was a baby, I don't quite think TCRI would have done anything to him and his entire fam of mutant when they're grown ups. By the time we get in present day, 15 years has passed and TCRI has never done anything to try and get Superfly back.
@jjstarrprod Even when he was Super Duper Fly, one teeny little vial of anti-mutigen stopped him. And since TCRI had no idea what they were up against 15 years ago, they've had time to prepare.
And what do you mean they "never done anything to try and get Superfly back"? They spent 15 years trying to find him. They knew a criminal named Superfly was stealing their equipment. They knew he existed, and they have been trying to track him ever since.
It was the Turtles who were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Leo had removed the tracker from the last device needed for the machine. If they had done nothing, TCRI was going to find their hideout. They have a lot more manpower this time around. They are prepared to fight mutants. One teeny little vial of anti-mutigen, and he'd be done for.

Hey guys, big fan from Ireland...i also watched Turtles as a kid Jaby and me favourite was Raph..Raphael was the bad ass, wisecracking Dude...Michelangelo was most peoples fav (like my brother) as he was the fun silly guy, for me he was the court jester of the group...Hope u enjoy the movie..i absolutely loved it, not much of an animation fan since i got older but i had a smile on my face through much of the movie..finally they made a TMNT movie right..its doin ok box office wise it should of dun better..Its so damn gud!
I watched this and Barbie last weekend and I gotta say, this movie is WAAAY better than Barbie. I usually never enjoy western animations but this (and Spiderverse) are some of the recent few I found truly worth watching. Whoever voiced Donatello did an excellent job. That squeaky teen voice was so spot on, gave character to the TEEN part of TNMT. Hilarious, action packed, touching and entertaining. Worthwhile watch.

Michaelangelo and Splinter were easily the highlights of this movie. Raphael being Raphael, but more incompetent than ever. Leonardo take a role to fall for April this time around, and is less Leonardo than from even the old TMNT's. Donatello being a literal portrayal of a "cool" annoying nerd from middle school
A fresh, and fun version of the TMNT's, very welcome
My favorite turtle is Donatello, especially the one from the 2003's take of franchise, followed by Michaelangelo in 2003's, and this Mikey, really enjoyed this portrayal, something entirely new (usually he's the least responsible and goofiest, but in here he was more responsible and as usual, lots of potential)
Splinter was soooo good. I wish he got more scenes. Jackie did justice to the character and such good comedic timing 👏 I need a sequel ASAP.

if i can be a little cynical, i think across the spiderverse really fumbled. too much talking amongst genuinely cool character designs that didn't shine enough through overly-cluttered action sequences
to me, this proved that even sloppier and cruder looking visuals can still look and feel amazing and fun to watch, spiderverse be damned

of course not. rewatch that opening. that mikey dancing scene is obviously not in a real space. its a floating floor in a void. no walls, no ceiling, no floor no people, so yeah cant be in the show lol it was just to showcase his party dude aspect of his persona.

The movie says that it was a big failure because they eliminated all the scenes that had battles, black humor, violence and because of April character changed appearance, I remember that a person in the cinema said that she should not be black and she is originally white and the issue of forced inclusion
He also harshly criticized the film because they removed the violence that was in classic Werner Bros. New Line Cinema Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies
What a crock. They didn't "remove" violence, April has been black several times and they didn't "eliminate" all the battles. It's a different version of the turtles, something any fan of the TMNT should be used to by now.

I agree. This movie took liberties with the story in a good way. I love Splinter. April doesn't feel like forced eye candy. And the villain being anyone but Shredder was a service. I also loved the hip-hop, as it reminds me of NYC, but that could just be me.
