By d way burried from my memory I remember American GI Joes came to our school in the 70's and they have the same curious reaction like you all did. I remember helicopters dropping foods and they also built water pump and bridges in our mountains in Panay...thanks to many of them. I worked in the U.S. now maybe some of them were my patients.

Really? We have not forgotten them. Some of the roads and towns and islands were named after them. They have several cemeteries there for the unknown Americans and Filipino soldiers. I wish you can visit. They're well maintained by the government. I did have a chance to take care some of them in the U.S. Many of them have a fun memories of our Islands. One 94 yo single, very faisty, refused everyone for a visit except me. The minute I call him he was excited and when I come in he already lined up all the memorabilias he had in WW II in the Philippines. He was one of the first pilots that bomb Manila and freed those soldiers held captive in Sto. Tomas. He never got married but he kapt a comb and a picture of one of our local Filipina maybe his GF. Sad to say I came back and he was gone. His 98 yo brother was also a WW II Vet in Europe. I have no words every time I visit them but I'm glad I was able to return the service they have done to our country. Thank you for the sacrifices of your father. I have 2 uncles also that setved in WW II. War was over but in 1970's and maybe until now they still celebrate the Fil/Am friendship in our plaza.
