I am an American. Like you, I assumed that it was probably something serious, while hoping that it wasn't. Unlike many people, I realized that it was none of my business what was happening with her and that she deserved to handle it in whatever way was best for her and her family. It didn't matter to me if she never explained what was going on. Unless it was a matter of national security, why does anyone think they have the right to know this information? She is a Royal and does an outstanding job of supporting the British citizens. She is also a private citizen, wife, and mother, and that part of her life is private. She seems like such a lovely person. She needs love and support, not judgement and criticism.

I honestly don’t think four members of a family contracting cancer after dealing with all the stress of betrayal after betrayal and the public response to it, is a coincidence.
My treatment finished in '22, practically everyone I met during and after treatment would say a particularly stressful time was linked to the onset of cancer. And I was in peak physical fitness at the time, it was covid so had extra time to excercise. When I saw her video, I did think immediately of the stress the whole family went through. Prayers for the whole family and everyone else affected by this illness, it's long journey.
Stress does not help but sadly 2 in 3 people will develop cancer in their lifetime so it's well within the normal range of statistics ☹️ . Well wishes and a speedy recovery for all of them.

It brought to mind my sister’s cancer struggle and her concerns at the time, for her children who were young, similar to the Princess’ children. Every time I hear about a cancer diagnosis I am immediately transported back to being a 13 year old girl and being told that my mother has cancer. I’m 60, she died when I was 23 and she had just turned 43. But when you hear about another person’s diagnosis it doesn’t matter how long ago your personal experience with cancer was. I am an American. Like you, I assumed that it was probably something serious, while hoping that it wasn't. Unlike many people, I realized that it was none of my business what was happening with her and that she deserved to handle it in whatever way was best for her and her family. It didn't matter to me if she never explained what was going on. Unless it was a matter of national security, why does anyone think they have the right to know this information? She is a Royal and does an outstanding job of supporting the British citizens. She is also a private citizen, wife, and mother, and that part of her life is private. She seems like such a lovely person. She needs love and support, not judgement and criticism.

She DESERVED this kind of respect when she’d simply asked for privacy and a couple months off after surgery. This woman had never asked for anything before, but the media’s and public’s entitlement was more important than her wants or needs. I honestly don’t think four members of a family contracting cancer after dealing with all the stress of betrayal after betrayal and the public response to it, is a coincidence.
My treatment finished in '22, practically everyone I met during and after treatment would say a particularly stressful time was linked to the onset of cancer. And I was in peak physical fitness at the time, it was covid so had extra time to excercise. When I saw her video, I did think immediately of the stress the whole family went through.
Prayers for the whole family and everyone else affected by this illness, it's long journey.

It brought to mind my sister’s cancer struggle and her concerns at the time, for her children who were young, similar to the Princess’ children. Every time I hear about a cancer diagnosis I am immediately transported back to being a 13 year old girl and being told that my mother has cancer. I’m 60, she died when I was 23 and she had just turned 43. But when you hear about another person’s diagnosis it doesn’t matter how long ago your personal experience with cancer was. It all comes rushing back. ❤
