First guy is KC Hodenfeld, Bay's 1st AD on a ton of his movies. Having personally witnessed KC endure some serious pressure from Bay on Pearl Harbor, I can say this guy has earned every cent of his AD salary and residuals.
His actitud is almost what makes his movies a little more realistic. Always puts pressure on actors. But up to a point that heat reflects on their emotions in set, especially getting to the intense action scenes.

"He's not the sort of person who is interested in contemplating or reflecting" - Clearly he isn't, as his movies show. They are encumbered by incomprehensible action, internal inconsistencies and unnecessary adornments.
You'd need to be f*cking blind to not be able to comprehend the action sequences. And putting Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen aside, his movies have mostly tight narratives, there are questionable elements here and there but nothing worse than what you'd find in 95% of other action movies.
Dude, his movies give me fucking headaches, I don’t know what you mean by not knowing what we mean when we say they’re so goddamn incomprehensible. There’s too much disorienting choices, you usually have to look around to understand what the fuck’s happening, and the dialogue is always so horrible -_-
Pretty sure you can film massive movies on that scale without adopting the ‘Bayhem’ approach. Ask Spielberg, ask Peter Jackson, ask Del Toro, Nolan, Sam Mendes.

Seems Bay acts more like a jerk than a general. I watched an interview with an actor who worked on the Transformer movies who said he truly wanted to quit because of the director's demeanor. What keeps these people coming back is Bay puts out blockbuster movies and they look good on anyone's resume. This director just doesn't know how to interact with people. That's probably why the characters in his movies have all the depth and interactivity of a cartoon. This is probably why Bay can get away with his abusive directorial style. Everything is special effects, frame composition and camera movement. Truth in acting or character development never enters into it. James Cameron is a lot like this as well.
Cameron’s nothing like that. You can’t say there’s no character development in the first 2 “Terminator” movies. Nor to a certain extent in “Aliens”, either. I’ve never personally been able to sit through “Titanic”, but I gather that’s another one that focuses on character. Including even the SHIP and making the vessel a persona in itself.
