I have been trying to hit up, because that is what everyone says to do. I seem to loose control though. I think I will stick to what is comfy for me. And yes I love my 3 and 5 wood off the deck.

Watched this and payed attention as I've just started hitting up on the ball and saw a real improvement in reducing the curvature (fading the ball now instead of a big slice) and distance (gained about 20 yards). Great video and very informative. Cheers Rick and Dan

Is there any relationship with hitting draw or fade?
I personally hit the ball down when I need fade. And, ip for the draw.

I know this is an old video but what would happen if you hit down with a higher lofted driver?
i hit down slightly when i have to hit a fairway but it does spin up a bit and i lose 20-25 yards but then i hit a slight 5 yard fade and hit the fairway 👍 if i need distance i need to hit up.
What if i hit down on the ball and go to a little higher lofted driver? I use a 10.5 now and thinking of using a 11.5. Will that add a little distance
i hit every club like an iron (hitting down) and i personaly hate hybrids because if it dont hit it absolutly clean the sole kind of bounces up of the ground so i switch a few years ago to a titleist long iron
I really struggle with club path as I come from the outside and generally see a negative number and I am sure I hit down on my driver. Should I give up any hope of hitting up on the ball with my driver unless I dramatically change my swing to give myself a positive path ?
Rick, would you say better iron players tend to hit down on their driver too? I love hitting irons and I always have teed my driver relatively low.
most golfers need to try and hit the middle of the club forget down or up leave it for the pros.
3 wood 260 driver 265 most the time. Makes me sad. Maybe im hitting down but then the question is why hit anything besides 3wood since i can hit it off tee, off ground, etc.

How would recommend going about finding PGA coaches who use ball data? My club pro doesn't have the tech, and other than my local American Golf (which has GC2 in its test bays) I can't seem to find anyone down south using launch monitors?

daniel green. google them mate . I did , but have a chat with them too though , and make sure they have the hmt unit so they can measure strike etc etc

average Joe doesn't have enough ball speed to hit down whereas pros do. average Joe needs low spin to maximise distance so has to hit up and from top of face to gain massive yardage. hitting down will find fairways if u want to play like luuuke
