I had a weird experience with Hannibal. I was on my way to work and I work at TSA. He has a skit about us and I thought it was hilarious. He comes through that day but had no ID and got mad because I recognize him but wouldn't give him expedited screening. (I'd get fired if I did that). He turned into the biggest jerk ever and at the end of his screening I asked him if he had any bomb water (the punchline from his TSA skit) and he told me to shut the hell up lmao.

I think most people have some more knowledge, hell, in Sweden basically everyone in the upper class goes on yearly semesters to Thailand. Though people seem to want to travel to spots that are popular rather than spots they’ve actually done research on and have come to the conclusion that that spot is a good spot. For example everyone goes to Thailand, but almost nobody goes to Indonesia. The ones that do almost always vacation in Bali, I’ve even had people who’ve BEEN to Bali say that they’ve never been to Indonesia; they know about the island but not its country. Also a lot of people love to travel to Greece, which is fine for culture, but if you just want a nice beach vacation there are way better spots, like in Sicily or north Africa.

I started Muay Thai here in Chiang Mai also haha. I’ve been living here since 2013 but only been doing Muay Thai for around 4 months. The changes are insane. I lost 4kg the first week and even though the workouts are total hell for the body, i notified a change for the better right away. Muay Thai is definitely the best thing to do if you want to get in shape fast and feel better. Hitting the pads for me was the worst. I was easily gassing up after a few minutes lol. Anyone thinking of starting i highly encourage you to do so. It’s something you will never forget. Now i’m off to sleep because i have a practice in 10 hours lol.

@@MarkyNomad Thailand is definitely THE place to be if you want to train.
Buakew just opened his gym here in Chiang Mai and he's there most of the time so I highly suggest you to try his gym.
At Phuket then the famous Tiger Muay Thai will do it. They also have other great gyms there like
I personally think Muay Thai in Pai isn't good at all but that's my personal opinion.
Phuket - Bangkok - Chiang Mai are the 3 best places to train at if you're a foreigner (for Thais the best place is in the Issan region they're literally doing that because their lives depend on it.)

@@thuggerrthug3395 Pretty much everywhere tbh. It really depends on what kind of experience you want to have.
Do you want to train alongside other foreigners with a coach that can speak clear/good english?
Do you want to experiment the real Thai style of Muay Thai and train alongside Thai teenagers and people that are actually fighting to feed their family?
I suggest you do both if you have enough time. Both have their +/- .
I don't know if their gym still operate but I've had great times and memories at 13 coins gym in Bangkok.
Look around huai khwang subway station they have plenty of gyms in that area that have good reputations.
You'll find so many gyms in Bangkok. But the best ones where the legends are from are located in the Issan region.
Once again, it all depends on what you're looking for.
You can even fly down south and go at Tiger Muay Thai (quite expensive though) and train along plenty of UFC/Bellator/PFL etc.. fighters (Petr Yan is almost constantly there, Volk also come from time to time and plenty of others).
If you have any questions feel free to ask! GL on your journey my man.

Pretty violent Muay Thai kickboxing in Myanmar. Damn!
My friend Eric Uresk from Long Island, N.Y. was training MMA at Alliance, San Diego and then he went off the grid in Thailand. He's back coaching and stuff, but he went neck deep into the Thai Kickboxing. His wrestling is legendary. I trained with him a couple of times. We sparred for one round MMA. Somebody was going to get hurt in my friend's gym, so we stopped. Really great guy.
Eric must be pretty awesome now. Muay Thai is a great martial art for any wrestler to learn. You learn distance and you can hide that shot really nice if you learn some Muay Thai. Eric's been Jitzing for I don't even know how long, but he's black in Judo, and he might have been brown Jitz when I sparred him. I was afraid to take him down, I remember that. I was trying to stay standing. Eric Uresk is black in Ju Jitsu by now. I know he fell in love with Muay Thai, I did too when I studied it in Queens, NY. Eric didn't let me stay standing; he forced the issue with some good punches. I bet he'd be a handful now after all the Muay Thai. No thanks, I'm retired for good.
Hannibal is a really funny guest. It's really fun to hear him goofing on the show. "The music in my head is Drrrr da da do... My walk is more like DURR DU DUDER TERT TERT TA TA" . 🤣

I lived in a nice high rise condo that's almost cheap as my property taxes, and if I wanted to grab a beer at the local Family Mart or 7-11 at 1AM, I could simply walk there without feeling threatened. While my neighborhood is nice, I would never walk around here at 1AM. And of course, it's pretty easy to find a nice girlfriend, no not a whore (not that there's anything wrong with whores) with a nice family and decent education. Unfortunately, my GF was denied a tourist visa to the U.S, but she can practically go anywhere else (Japan, Australia, Europe), but I digress...

Nothing I recommend. But I have friends from Sweden who has done the proper paperwork and opened gyms. Concentrated on boxing. Just devoted muay thai lovers. No competitions or anything like that. Pretty successful. If you are younger and have the ability to fight you can and will be popular as long as you do it without just trying to stay here long.
I live on a pretty small island, Koh Lanta and here are a few legit boxing "camps" and a couple of successful "white" fighters or "farangs" as all foreigners are called.
For me... I'm 49 and bought 6 scooters and 50% of a restaurant with no experience at all. When the "Thai magic" goes away its like a beautiful place in hell. But yes. You can do it. The one thing is that everything and everyone is corrupted here and everything cost more than it really should.
But with that being said... I, of cause, don't know everything. If you try to find answers and ask 10 different people you'll get 10 different answers. Especially from Thai people. Everything is possible here with money. And if you get a foot in the door and make some friends you can absolutely do it. 100%. I wish I was young and could do what you want to do. Come here and just do it. But I don't know how things work in bigger towns and provinces. Like Bangkok and pattaya. But here on koh lanta its very possible. If you do it, write a message and please let me know. When the borders open again you should do it because everyone needs money here right now and would be more than happy to take you in😊
