It just got released and I immediately listened to it to film my reaction!

At first listen I was very interested but slightly underwhelmed, at second listen I noticed the lyrics specifically, and fell absolutely in love with the song😅

I will have to check them out later. But general Eurovision watchers will not have this luxury and depend on the quality of their commentators. Nevertheless it is another indication for my earlier impression: Europe 2024 wants to have fun and wants to dance! For my personal taste the beat is partially too upfront, but I liked the fun approach - AND that it is in Dutch. So well done Netherlands and good luck! 😘
This and De Diepte are the kinds of authentic things the Netherlands should be sending each year...NOT Duncan Lawrence or the two last year...this really represents the Dutch I feel! I would be proud if I were you Roy!

Yeah well I think Duncan was very much the right choice to send, the quality of the song far outmatched the argument that the song is inauthentic. But yeah last year was a bit worrying as it was kind of starting to look like we'd keep on sending pop. However I agree that we should be sending more of this sort of Dutch stuff, I'm curious to see how some typical Dutch pop would hold in Eurovision. We've sent a lot of pop, sure, but I can't really remember the last time we sent something with truely Dutch pop vibes. Artists like FLEMMING and Snelle.

Eurovision is an emotional affair for Joost. As a child, he watched it together with his parents. "Parents, one day I'm going to be on Eurovision stage" and he made it. Unfortunately, his parents died when he was a child. This song is dedicated to his late father. That's why it's called EUROPAPA. The part in the song “I'm in Germany, but I'm so alone. I'm in Italy, but I still feel the pain, etc.", I feel it's directed at his parents... Joost loved his parents and still does. His lyrics are mostly very deep, but the melody is happy, danceable and the clips of his song are presented in a fun way. Joost himself said that his musical style is diverse. When Joost was asked what song they should listen to in order to understand you. He answered Florida 2009 (it's about his parents) and Wachtmuziek (it's about mental health). I recommend listening to them. You have to translate it, because he sings in Dutch.
I am a Dutch guy of 65, but hearing this I lose 30 years at least... haha..... Dancing on the table....
I had such low expectations for this entry…however in 3 mins 20 seconds it made me smile, laugh and cry…In the words of the great Roy PM; “What is this!”.

@@Crowleas Not many. I think we had a lot of strong preselections but many times the wrong song got picked. I like France, Slovenia, Croatia (but it sucked live), Lithuania and Belgium.
