      As a new owner of a clanky 2001 new beetle... Can confirm. I managed to haul 3 pizzas on the dash for a party.

    The black beetle is still on the road 102K miles on it's last MOT.
    The blue one was on the road until 2013 and got to 100K miles on it's last MOT.

    • @theKeshaWarrior
      @theKeshaWarrior Před 3 lety +4

      It's so weird to me that 100k miles is considered a lot in the UK. Even in Top Gear cheap car challenges they say that like it's so much when 200k is pretty normal in the USA.

    • @ThomasCollectables
      @ThomasCollectables Před 3 lety +2

      @@theKeshaWarrior Our MOT regulations are so strict that cars are frequently failed beyond economic repair before they are really ready to die. But there are many people with perfectly functioning vehicles with milages well into the 100 thousands.

    Weird that VW is very highly regarded in terms of reliability in Europe, compared to their reputation in North America.

      +Brock Walls Mexican made VS European made. the first few years of them being made in mexico they had the piston rings installed incorrectly causing many to brake down within the first few years.

    • @starxlr7863
      @starxlr7863 Před 7 lety +5

      Proper maintenance is the big key. But also the issue of Mexican made parts is a big problem and is the downfall to so many of them being junked and scrapped here in the United States. I have a Turbo S and my daily driver TDI Beetle and love both of them regardless of any problems or issues.

    Absolute garbage car. The 2.0 was the shittiest engine I ever owned. Bought at 85k miles burned up the engine by 87. Good condition low mile cars should never break down ad much as mine did! I'm not talking about the diesel or the 1.8 turbo. I'm sure those are good engines but still
    BUY a focus instead!
