Like many of you, I discovered “Who Wants To Live Forever” in the movie Highlander, long before I ever knew of the band Queen. It was likely even before “Bohemian Rhapsody” hit my radar in Wayne’s World. (I can’t be sure, though, as I don't recall how old I was when I saw Highlander.) Safe to say this is one of the first Queen songs I ever heard. It is also one of my favorites... and it is an absolute beast to sing! I’ve had the great pleasure of performing it with various symphonies, including The Boston Pops, and I get chills every time. Freddie was at his best here, and Brian’s songwriting, every bit as spectacular; magical, even. Hope you enjoy this, as I did my best here to do justice not only to the song itself, but also to the incredible arrangement by Michael Kamen. - Hudba

@Black Dog it can't be as heartfelt as Mercury's for sure. Yet, truth be told, Marc's tribute shows a great deal of respect and his voice for a moment brings back the times when Freddy was alive. This one moment alone makes it a worthwile cover. I am grateful to him.

I love it. He sounds so much like Freddie in the 90’s especially when he uses his rasp, it’s insane and makes me tear up.
Shreedhar Jajoo he still made songs and the one that I was reminded the most while listening to his amazing tone was Love Me Like There’s No Tomorrow. His rasp in the 90’s sounds so similar to Marc now. Even in the 90’s he still did some live performances like Opera. Not to mention the fact that his vocals were healthy again and were amazing like 81 Montreal.

I keep coming back to this for obvious reasons. Sure, no one else sings so like Freddie Mercury as Marc Martell does. But when it's just Marc and the piano, the song takes on another life. It's far more intensely personal. And powerful. This is absolutely beautiful - musical artwork. Marc is a simply a great talent who just happens to sound like Freddie.
I just have no words.

He IS a superstar. He chooses to work independently though, so no record label pushes his talent. He was selling arenas before COVID and will be selling stadiums when some sort if normalcy returns.

I was listening to the radio that day, the day Freddie died... Everything stopped all of the sudden. I remember where I was, the time it was and how I let myself fall over the bed. It was so weird, my tears were not just falling, they jumped from my eyes. It was such a painfull feeling, like having lost somebody very dear and close, but, I never met him. His impact in lots of people's lives was huge. Thank you Freddie and also, thank you Marc.
I was 9 when he died. And yes it was all over the news here in ny. The deep sad quietness. I’ll never forget it. ❤ thank you Marc. We love you

When Freddie recorded this song, his voice already changed into a macho tone. The quality of Marc Martel’s voice is 1970’s Freddie.
True, but after 23 songs in a concert, doing this as a second encore often ends up sounding more like 80's Freddie with more rasp.

I just participated in a "Queen and Friends" Bohemian Rhapsody concert at Capital One Hall in Tysons Corner, VA. This was one of the songs in the repertoire. The lead singer was good, but boy, would I like to be in a choir backing Marc Martell. What an honor that would be.
That said, Marc makes this an intensely personal performance. No choir required!

Marc loves singing with symphonies! He has performed with Boston Pops twice, several times in Quebec, Canada, in Mexico, and with various choirs. Two notable ones for me are with the Tbilisi Children's Choir and the Gori Women's Choir in the country of Georgia in 2019. If you do a search on YT, you'll find fan videos. :)

There was actually a study done that proved that both Freddie and Marc Martel’s voices have a frequency that cause dopamine to develop and make you happy as well as cause “shock” making the hairs on your body stand up :)
@Black Dog That's just his natural voice. He has said many times he doesn't want to imitate Freddie, he just loves the music. If he was to imitate Freddie ik he could pull it off, but he simply prefers to show us he has his own voice.

I was 14 when I saw Highlander. Who Wants to Live Forever and Kurgen's Theme impressed me so much that I became an instant Queen fan. I have no idea what Marc Martell's life's ambitions are, but if touching people's hearts and souls with music is one, he is doing well.

This song was the last song One Vision of Queen played at their Berlin show 10th of Jan 2020 and honestly, Marc nailed it 99.9% like in this video. After the full set he f*ing sang his heart out and gave us every bit that was left of him. One could clearly tell that he needed rest by the end of the show, but it felt like the whole set list was tailor made so he could perform every song to its fullest.
What an incredible singer! So much emotion, passion and LOVE for this music - i do not care what anybody else thinks: he deserves to sing with queen more than anyone else!
