- Here we go with another mesmo Pov (July 2010) of The Ghost Train in Pleasure Beach Blackpool.Really pleased with this video the whole experience is caught well with my new camera.Some new parts for this year! Love the train 04:04 it also blows air at you when you get near the light.Sad to say the reaper,spider and iron maiden have gone,that was my favourite part : ( Now there is nearly an empty space 03:14 with a skeleton that shakes when you go past......pathetic,but maybe this part is not finished ? The exorcist girl 03:46 is great and makes the whole ride better,nice one.

The history behind the this ride is incredible! Built in 1930 this was first dark ride in the world to be referred to as a "Ghost Train".
+Attack From Planet B correct me if im wrong but aren't "ghost trains" a term used only in Europe, but theyre called "dark rides" here in the states?

I first went on this ride when I was about 6 years old and it scared the crap out of me! I'm 42 now and I love the fact that it has barely changed in all that time! I can still remember clinging on to my mum in absolute terror lol.

Nice comment,and years ago (there has been a ghost train here since the 1930's) couples would go in just to be alone for a few moments as many families lived in small houses with lots of relatives living with them.
Good old fashioned fun! Unlike most these days, you spend most of the time in the actual dark! Well done B'pool!

Thank you for this, great clip! I am in Australia and we have similar ghost rides but nothing as elaborate as the girl in the bedroom scene or even the skeletons on the bikes. The ones I've been on use a lot of flashing lights, large plastic faces and worn, old dummies that don't even move.
That's basically the definition of any bog-standard ghost train .. usually in travelling fairgrounds.
THIS is actually the world's first ever ghost train - the one that started the whole thing off.
It is quite possibly the world's first dark ride (at least sitting in a car on rails).
pretty similar as it was when I was a kid in the 70's.. similar effects and sounds... this is what you expect from a Ghost Train in Blackpool...
I went here yesterday and was really excited to relive the Ghost Train, so I was disappointed to see it had deteriorated badly. Two effects that are really easily achieved, for example, were completely ruined. Whatever it was that came hurtling towards me from the skeleton (at 1:26 in your video) wasn't a skull but some unrecognisable lump. The revolving tunnel (4:06) is practically non-existent - where there used to be a brilliant kaleidoscopic effect that made you feel like you were going to fall out of the car, now it just feels like, um, a badly painted tunnel.
it sounds like you haven't been on it for many years,I have just come back myself I agree the zombie that replaced the skeleton isnt very well lit and it's hard to make out what it is.The revolving tunnel I dont think that has spun around since the 1990's.The part I miss is the last high up room where there is a gargoyle and a shaking sound from a corner...um..not good.There used to be a really nice reaper with a scythe above you stretching out as you passed and a woman in an iron maiden,I still miss that part.
Yes, I think the last time I did that ride was about 1997.
It's one of the first ghost trains..and I think the first to use the term "Ghost Train". Yes it's cheesy, and the Alice in wonderland ride is just as scary.
But it's a ritual of the pleasure beach. You've got to try it. The skeletons at the end are my favourite.

This is what we do best in Britain, even the shittiest rides will get you screaming and laughing like nothing else...i enjoyed this ghost train MORE than most rides at Disney. It made me laugh to tears...

Got fond memories of this ride, when I was 6 I went on with my dad and was really excited but when the wolf came out I screamed and said to my dad ‘dad, I think I made the wrong decision’ 😂
I rode this twice with my best friend and we screamed when the doll turned her head in the last part 😂

Always loved Ghost Trains, that moment when you crash through the doors into total darkness ! Worked on The Demon's Den at The Spanish City in Whitley Bay one Summer in 1972 and loved every minute.

I love the Skeletons on the bikes at the end! . . they are the best! I can remember something been talked / sung outside the ride. It was something like . . '. . And make you scream and scream and ah ha ha ha haaa' *cackling voice at the end of the talking / singing*. Thanks again the walk down memory lane ;)

I rode this ghost Train in 1970..at one part I felt someone squeeze the top of my head with their fingers. I screamed and looked behind me to see a man about 30" high in a long jacket walk round the corner.

Well done Mesmo, that's the best vid of the Ghost Train I've seen! I, too, love the new additions, especially the train line bit, much better than the old way. We normally only do the Ghost Train once per visit, but we went on it twice the other week just to see the new bits again! :-)
This is an awesome video and I'd like to give big thanks to the cameraman for making it not too dark, blurry, or jerky. And also for not laughing and making stupid comments through the whole thing. Sure it's not scary, but it has an awesome old-school fairground charm to it. Bravo for capturing it perfectly!

this was my favourite ride as a kid. I used to go on it over and over again until my mum finally convinced me to go on something else. Then i'd just drag her on the Alice in Wonderland ride over and over :D not been in about 4 years an i only live down the road! you have inspired me to go in the next few weekends! Ta xx
Half the animatronics on these rides look like something you could pick up at one of those Spirit of Halloween stores. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if that's where they got most of these things.

The old painting theming of this ride is SO well done, love that skeleton’s head coming right at you in the beginning.
Very nice, especially the skeleton head at 1:23 , pop-eyed man at 2:29 and little demon girl at 3:47 . A bit too much outside time for my taste, but overall much fun

I have written to the government about the state of British ghost trains. They essentially haven't been invested in properly since the 70s. I have been told David Cameron is going to look into it. Not certain how high on the list of his priorities it will be.:(
