  • This was the long awaited video of an Elegee Katala ‪@elegeecustomguitars4418‬ compared to a Martin OM 28 ‪@martinguitar‬.
    Forgot to mention that the Martin OM28 it needed a complete re-fretting of the whole fingerboard and opted for the Evo Gold frets rather than the normal nickel frets.

    Oh wow finally I had to hear this side by side comparison for myself. I have a Martin OM28 and always debating whether I should get an Elegee acoustic but I don’t know which one has the same body as the OM28 until I saw this. The Martin on this video sounds better but not 6x the price better. Besides I’ll choose Elegee not only because I want to patronize my homeland’s product but because it is really a great guitar for the price and Jon dela Cruz is a good person. He’s been earning my business even when I was still in the Philippines back then when he was just starting off as a guitar technician. He deserves all the success and I’ll just be here supporting him all the way.

    Great comparison although there was some really inaccurate about the wood specs, but basing on these martin was on par than the katala one,
    For me you'll be skeptical too about the pricing based on the wood that used.
    But some of us wouldn't really understand that comparing the om to the other one,
    There's a really BIG difference between these two not just on the woods that used. But typically the price ranges.
    I would definitely compare the katala on the other models/brands that has the same price ranges.
    Martin really sounds great!

      I agree with what you said sir! Yes the Martin actually sounds more fuller in person. The mic used in this recording is the Shure MV7. Not as pro recorded as other CZcams videos. But yes, I understood what you said and totally agreed.

    Great video. Martin definitely sounded fuller but the cost of those 2 is like heaven and earth 😂
    If you're in NCR and you're planning to buy an entry level Martin or Taylor (114-214) that's worth 60-80k. Maybe consider trying out the elegee guitars in person first instead of deciding based on where it was made.
    I was planning to buy a Taylor GS Mini and when the Maya came out I decided to test it out in person and man it felt great in the hand (especially the neck) and the sound was great. I didn't bother buying the GS Mini because the Maya was already superb for me.
    I tried out the Taylor 214-ce at RJ which priced double than the maya (34k maya vs 67k 214ce) and to my surprise the Maya sounded better and the neck felt better plus gloss finish for the top, and back and sides so I didn't purchase the 214ce and instead will save up for either the higher end martins and taylors or a custom handmade acoustic elegee with my custom specifications.
    I'm not a reviewer though but I make some casual covers and have made some with the elegee maya so maybe it could help?
    To justify the china outsourcing, I get it they couldn't mass produce because they don't have a factory but sir Jon still provided them with designs and the materials. When it arrived at Elegee, they still do setup the guitars for maximum comfort and playability which is something you won't get from buying from a guitar from the mall.
    A lot of good reasons to try out these Elegee Acoustics while they are still in stock 😊

      Totally agreed with everything you said! These Elegee Guitars are so much better than the entry Guitars of Taylor or Martin, that is a fact! My nephew also had a Taylor 214ce and he said he likes this Elegee even more! So yes! For entry level Guitars, These Elegee Guitars are the way to go! They also have other models recently that came out!

  • @stevenkirkpatrick7258

    Why would you have to do a neck reset on 2 new guitars is what I’m wondering? I would be furious, not to mention I am sure the Martin would be covered under warranty if it really needed a neck reset, not familiar with the other brand or whether it’s warranted or not..let me know if you do not mind, I am curious about this. Thanks

    • @artr2
      @artr2  Před rokem

      As all neck reset, the Martin, as we all know has a very bad history that as it ages, like the one I got, after 4 years and the wood stabilise, the fretboard is LOWER than the saddle. So it needs MAJOR neck reset. Elegee Guitar just needed a little neck adjustment as the climate in Hong Kong is very humid. Just unscrew and adjust, unlike the Martin, major operation. Hope that helps.

    • @bobaldo2339
      @bobaldo2339 Před rokem +1

      @@artr2 And the reverse can be true with a Martin as well. The neck can be set in the new Martin guitar with way too much reverse relief such that the saddle must be absurdly high just to make the guitar playable. For every guitar player out there: the neck of a guitar should be set originally straight! The pull of the strings should provide a small amount of positive relief. Anything else is BS.

    Kind of disappointed about back and sides :<
    I thought they were solid rosewood. But I think I'm still going to buy the guitar as i think its still a good guitar. I hope Elegee would address this concern :

      Yes they did change it on the website stating it's Rosewood and it still is a very good sounding guitar! Do buy it! They also confirmed to me they never hid that they outsourced the guitar and Sir Jon chose the design and materials. So it's still a good solid top sounding guitar!

      Bro he chose the woods and design of the Guitars. I strongly suggest you still purchase it rather than a Taylor 214ce. Kasi mas maganda sound nito kesa sa Taylor. I'm using a mic acoustically recording these 2 Guitars. My daughter and me usually chose the Elegee over the Martin to be honest.
