your art is like a mix of children's cartoon and renaissance painting!
That reflection of rainbow in the glass, 👏👏👏
Chris, are you a children's book illustrator yet? You'd make a lot of childhood's nostalgic
The heart clip is my favorite part too! Along with the coffee mug, it looks so real and comfortable
Melon Dick she deserves that 💕 I'd buy every illustrated book she'll do, so in love with her art 💕🐻
So true omg!
I'd also love to buy a children's book from Chris!
thank you guys! 😘 I think illustrating a children's book sounds awesome but super daunting XD think it'll be more of a bucket-list thing for me 😂
@@ChrisHongArt gosh you should be a children book artist , your style is just too fitting!
Gotta give a prize to the blonde Pixie, the true MVP that managed to pour that coffee without it leaking from the upper border to the base like always happens to me :'(
😂😂😂 my mugs always have side spill stains on them too XD
@@ChrisHongArt The hot beverage drinkers true struggle! ToT
Oh I LOVE THIS, it just screams late 80's-early 90's childhood nostalgia to me
yay! that was my intention 😁❤️
DOUBLE RAINBOW ALL THE WAY
your painting and sketch studies are my inspiration, thank you for posting them also
I know its coffee themed, but usually coffee is drunk at breakfast and at breakfast you have cereal and this painting also has rainbows, so basically I can taste Lucky Charms just by looking at this. But seriously, i can't believe i haven't found you sooner! Your art screams nostalgia! I love it so much!! I hope we can get future prints of this piece!
I never thought about the "Lucky Charms" part until you said it. But Yes! it does give a breakfast feeling!
Lol about the second rainbow! I actually sat there mouth open in shock hahahah!! I'm glad you put it in. This painting is adorable, I love the concept and you executed it beautifully. Coffee heist with symbolic lightning bolts, how cute is that!!
Your art is so charming. Love this watercolour piece
I love all the little details in this!
It's so cute and at the end you did both rainbows wow!!
I just adore your watercolor work, I started playing with watercolor and making videos of my process because of you. You're so talented and I can't wait for your next video!
Never ever stop posting videos. I always look forward to your video so much... it doesn't matter what kind of video you post and I will still love it!!!
Another great video! Love these process vides. Keep them coming, Chris.
This is so cute and beautiful! Thanks for sharing the process Chris!
my pleasure, thanks so much for watching!☺️
This was super cute!! I love your style Chris!
Your art is extremely beautiful. Love it
Beautiful Chris!!!
I love how we get to see how you came up with the idea!!
trying to share more of that! ☺️
i love this so much
So cute! You did an awesome job!
Turned out super cute, the second rainbow seems to add more 3d to the painting. Also, I'm glad to hear that someone more experienced like you has the overworking problem and has difficulty knowing when to stop sometimes
I love your style!!! 🥰
i would LOVEEE this to be a print!
You are my favorite artist on CZcams!!!! I love ur art style!!!
This is so cute!
I absolutely love your style! I just found your channel yesterday and I'm in love! Keep up the amazing work ❤❤❤
Sooo adorable 💖
I like all of your paintings, but this one is just amazing! I love the idea and the colours, and how free you seemed while you were painting it, I think that you should totally make prints or cards with this! It is just too cute!
thank you so much Angela, glad you like this one! ❤️
Love your videos! Especially seeing your process❤️
thank you so much! glad you are liking them ☺️
I get so exited when you post new videos.Your paintings are always so so beautiful!!
omg gurl......we were waiting...soooooooo long..i love it and keep it coming ...we all adore your creations.
haha sorry I disappear at times! 😱
It’s beautiful 😍
I really like your style!
I missed your watercolors!
I hope you will make prints! This is adorable and I would love to add it to my collection!
I agree with another commenter that your sweet, whimsical paintings would be perfect for children’s book illustrations!
thank you so much!❤️☺️
Gorgeous painting, I really love your style it reminds of vintage greeting cards I used to collect but yours are way more detailed and done more skillfully. You should be in the millions sub club in my opinion ☺️
aw shucks ❤️😘 thank you so much!
I love this piece!!
Oh ur back, yay!
Oh my god! That is a Sakura pencil???? I love that!!!! Anyway, I really like to watch your process. I am an illustrator too and I am looking for the right twist to work on a personal project and I'd like to do it in a traditional way. Right now I just use digital for work and I think it could be refreshing to change medium. But knowing how it is to do an entire book in digital I don't know how it would be in traditional.
It does make a great postcard
I'm a coffee addict so this makes me so happy.
Keep up the great work!
thanks so much!☺️
Where has your art been? I ran across your video in watercoloring. Your art is absolutely amazing 😍😍
Im in loveeee
Love the piece
Beautiful
Your work is amazing! I'm so glad I found you :)
aw thanks for stopping by Diana! 😘❤️
That's cute.
Beautiful work 😍❤️
So great! Love the fairy’s 😍
haha that cute little bum of the upper one is 💕
hehe 😚❤️
I still have some of my butterfly clips from the 90s. :D
lucky! ✨🤩
your videos motivate me to start my illustration assignments, i leave them on the background as i work so it's like we're painting buds lol
aw that's awesome! I wish I had discovered youtube when I was back in school, would've made working on homework a lot better 😁
What?! No, prints? I was so waiting for that video and the prints of it ;((((( And postcards are so tiny... I think you really, really should print your artworks on deep edge canvases! And AT LEAST double the size, no better: tripled would look great - your beautiful artworks are so detailed it is such a waste to print them so little! I could stare at them for hours and find a new sweet detail! I swear I would buy all my three mermaid pieces again, if you would release them on canvas doubled in size (I even dreamed of this, because I would love that so much).I had a whole wall reserved for your mermaids, but they look so tiny, that I had to put them in a much smaller place to make them shine - much to my discomfort.
AND I want to buy this piece! I love rainbows, pixies and stars, and I really think that your composition explains itself and does not need any sentiment.
aww I'm sorry to hear that!! 😱 I guess that is the downside of smaller prints😭 I DO plan on releasing bigger mermaid prints one day but maybe I really should look into canvas prints, that's not a bad idea!! 🤔 It would be so difficult to ship though :O unless I guess I ship it rolled, and people can stretch it themselves..! I want to try PAINTING on deep canvases first hehe 😁
this is the first video of yours i’ve watched! your style is so unique and adorable! incredible painting, i subbed :)
welcome! thanks for stopping by ☺️❤️
I think it is very cute!! 😊 I'd love to see more pixi/fairy like paintings from you ❤
one day I want to do a whole series! 😚
Yaaay! Cannot wait! ^^
This is so cute
I wasn't a huge fan of masking fluid either until I started using the Fineliner Resist Pen. It's a bottle with a long metal tip and you can get really precise lines. When you cap it, there's an even smaller metal...uhh..thingy that fits inside the tip to insure it will not get clogged up. I also like using silicon tipped brushes if I have a larger area to mask off so I don't ruin my brushes (even old ones) as well. Just in case you ever wanted options. Hahaha! This is such a sweet painting, by the way! Friendships are truly marked by if you would share your coffee with someone. Hahaha!
that's so sweet of you to make that suggestion, I'll def put it in my notes to refer back to one day! :D and silicon brushes are a brilliant idea!! and yes that's true about sharing coffee with friends 😂 (I'm a coffee-hogger myself..)
@@ChrisHongArt Silicon brushes have saved me lots of time and frustration so I hope they work out for you! Cheers to you (actually lifted coffee mug) and good fortune!
I adore your work. I have yet to see a piece that I don't love.
I definitely had about a zillion of those butterfly clips back in the 90's
sounds about right 😂
Very cute! Adding a bench that the cup was teetering on would add some drama and fill the bottom space 👍
I considered putting it along an edge, or at least giving the cup some cast shadow.. 😁
Super adorable!! I would love to purchase a smaller print or a post card of this!
thank you! ☺️❤️
Super cute! It's funny that they have hair clips and bands but not cloths. :D
Lol, very cute
If you plan on making an public artbook of your sketch book I'd totally be interested. I really enjoy looking at the WIPs sketches and color schemes of final products!
thank you so much! I wonder if l'll ever feel like these chicken scratches deserve to be in a book 😱 but it is really good to look back on and see the progression!
You are inspiring 🌸💓 may you make video about you self witch art school you went how you develop your self 🥰
If only there were watercolor pixies who'd smack our hands away when we start overrendering! Another great video, Chris :)
where can I find me one of those? 😂😂 thanks Teju!
I love the way you paint and your rendering is a HUGE inspiration! Did you ever tried any colored ink as a paintign medium? I’m trying to work with inks and altgough I love it! I feel I’m not making it justice
haven't tried coloured inks but I'm always down to try new mediums 😘
do you use a light box to transfer the sketch to the watercolour paper? i didnt understand when you said you used photoshop. what is your process to transfer the sketch? love your art btw
She takes a photo or scans the image of the sketch into photoshop edits the image then copies it onto water color paper. hope this clears things up.
thank you so much! SHADOW LINK basically answered the question but I've actually decided to make a video of my transferring process since I get asked about it a lot, so hopefully that will clear more things up! :)
As a 90’s child, I looovve this painting. Yes, I had big scrunchies. Yes, I love rainbows! Anyone got a time machine? I wanna go back. 😅
Very cute characters.
🤗
I love your sonny angel figure at the end of the video!
it's my favourite one!! and weirdly enough my first sonny angel too 😁
Elves💚
Work space tour please ❤
I always do that too when I edit my videos and rewatch where I tell myself "Oh gosh, I should have stopped right here but I made the wrong decision and pushed it too far".
Now I know who where those coffee stains come from, thank you! ;-)
haha aww 😘
Cute drowning ❤️❤️❤️
Wow when you showed how you colored in three different ways..I wanna see the concept under it..😂
Supper cute, I don't know why I am not subscribe to you yet) Kid's illustrations are not my thing put sometimes I really enjoy cute art!
😍👌🥰
Ottawa!!!!! WOOHOOOOOOO GO OTTAWA YEAAAAAAAAAH
I completely get the over-rendering thing. I always try not to over do a piece because it’ll feel like it’s too much for me. Like Id rather be 98% with a piece than 102 % with a piece.
I've heard that silicone brushes make working with masking fluid easier!
oo someone else suggested this and it's brilliant! I have to try it, thanks! :D
@@ChrisHongArt No problem! I hope it works for you! 😊
Arrgh another painting of yours I need now! Lol
Also, I know u paint what comes to mind...any ideas in there geared more for little boys? Hehe
haha aww!❤️ oh hmmm maybe..? XD I plan on doing a popular video game tribute piece early next year, though I can't guarantee it will be "boy-ish", it's not going to be mermaids and fairies 😁 I'm assuming you have a little boy? :)
@@ChrisHongArt 2 boys 2 girls! 🙂
I always wonder how did you find your art style or how did you start it out to where you are now.
I will do a video of it one day! :)
Chris Hong Art ah that would be great to see some time soon!! 💕 (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)
I remember this insta poll
How did you come to love watercolors?
the ease of the set-up lol ... and I think it's really the perfect medium for illustrations :D
I can tell your talented as you have no views.
😂
Look, after seeing some of these art girl channels I couldn't help but one constant thing: Talent is not why many of them are popular. They're just entertainers.
How much time do you spend thumbnailing before you decide upon fully rendering one of your sketches?
it really depends on the piece but I usually like to let it marinate for a day before committing to the thumbnail, even though I might have only spent an hour or less actually thumb nailing. I try not to spend TOO much time because it's really easy to get carried away and draw many different compositions when really all you needed was one decent one ^^

While I love the painting, I do find that painting little children naked is a bit... questionable
thank you! It's funny, I don't really see them as "children" XD kind of like those troll dolls 😁
Beautiful
Love the painting . You probably get this request all the time but can you do a video talking about art school and whether it was worth it and stuff? Anyway good video
I plan to one day.. some day! XD I think it's going to be a big video so I keep putting it off for when I feel "ready" :O
