      The in dash instrument is very cool. Perhaps it’s easier to see in the goggles. I tried to see the see the numbers in the video but could barely see anything on the LCD screen. You need one that’s back-lit.

    I have dreamed for years about forming an FPV aerobatic squadron. I love doing LOS formation flights but it's so hard.

    • @motionsic
      @motionsic  Před 2 lety

      Indeed it is hard to fly LOS formation, one can never be sure if a wingman is closer or further away especially if the planes are dissimilar. To perform formation with safe separation and using full scale training technique was the motivation for me to get into flying FPV.

    • @alainrac56
      @alainrac56 Před 2 lety +2

      This is easier to train formation full scale as I did some years ago than to find other members in our RC club involved in such a type of training, too bad…

      I am a 14000 h retired captain and RC modeler from the age of 12, but a rookie in EDF FPV and need some advices...since then, I flew FPV only with analogic, autopilot with RTH and OSD...With DJI, your videos are from the air unit and you have no information about position and speed in the goggles? never get lost? no gyros or autopilot if the things are going bad?

    • @alainrac56
      @alainrac56 Před 2 lety +1

      Sorry, answer is in the next video: you have an A3super 3 in the Viper 90 but no autopilot, and low rate for take off! Can't wait to get my new headtracker, I found back an old X-gyro from my modeler's den, 10 years old but never tested, I flew with it yesterday on a Skymule, but definitly too much drift...

      Alain I’m an airline captain and former rc modeler from way back too. Interested in doing this but there’s so much to learn!

    • @motionsic
      @motionsic  Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@ericwright7570 if you have prior knowledge about RC planes, the concept is easy to grasp. There are only two parts to add to enable head-tracking FPV:
      1. FPV - first person view, consists of goggles and air unit (camera and video transmitter). So long as you supply power to both and properly bound, they work from same digital FPV system.
      2. Head tracker and gimbal to move camera according HT movement. The head-tracker, basically a IMU is affixed to goggles to sense head movement then sends signal to RC transmitter via trainer (buddy box) function. The gimbal servos simply plug into two receiver channels like other servos.
      That’s it. Visit this page to see how it’s setup on the plane:

  • @erichthepantherausfg7465

    I've always wanted to do something like this but I'm on a Budget. How much does this normally cost and do you have any suggestions for Cheaper sites or Equiment?

    • @motionsic
      @motionsic  Před 2 lety

      The head-tracking FPV set all tolled would be around $950, main cost being goggles and air unit - nearly $750 for those alone. The other alternative HD FPV system would be HDZero. But cost would be quite similar. I have not used analog systems at all which are substantially more affordable.

    • @erichthepantherausfg7465
      @erichthepantherausfg7465 Před 2 lety

      @@motionsic I'm looking at Flitetest aircraft power kits since I'm gonna be building mine out of foam board. These kits are around 40 to 90 bucks baised on what you want. Lets say 70 bucks. And maybe 5 dollars in foam board, what would be the cheapest option for fpv equiment? My budget limit is about 200 bucks.

    Awesome videos. Have you thought about or used any of fpv laser tag systems that are out there?

    • @motionsic
      @motionsic  Před 2 lety +4

      I have several FPV Combat system; still thinking about how best to implement them. As you can see from this video, the distances for jet combat is quite far and target appears slightly bigger than a peck on in the goggles. If the FPV Combat displays hit on OSD for DJI FPV goggles would be a lot better. Lacking that, feed back from target with flashing LED to indicate hit may be the best way!

    • @RollnHeavyKevy
      @RollnHeavyKevy Před 2 lety +3

      I was wondering about the distance being a problem with the jets. I've been wanting to try an fpv combat system. I think with the dji having led hit lights in the cockpit wood be a good way to go. It wound be nice if there was a way to send a hit signal back to the radio and activate a voice pack.
