It’s kinda incredible that Camelogical actually released the raw footage, and no one bothered to time it properly. That’s so crazy, he literally provided the smoking gun and no one verified it. It’s especially ridiculous since he could’ve uploaded the raw footage legit and still claimed a defacto world record for several years.
The thing is he could have still edited the "raw" footage and no one would have noticed
@@hayato... Technically speaking, he DID edit the raw footage, by replacing the big black box with a smaller white box. But I think he was relying on people to focus too much on that part of the video. Or he thought he was toast anyway, and that's why he didn't resubmit the "original footage", cause he knew that when it was timed, he would be found out for sure. At that time, there were only suspicions but no concrete proof, which easily allowed him to keep his CZcams video up and claim it as the world record.
This guy deserves a full leaderboard ban. Cheating a world record puts all pf your prior speedruns into question, making you untrustworthy.
Yeah, I always filter for runners with some significant physical evidence, for example mouse/kb sounds, and more
It's incredible how this guy still hasn't been removed from the leaderboard.
I really hope these moderators aren’t a part of any other speedrun moderation efforts, the level of apathy is insane

what i don't get about camelogical, is even the first time he cheated, it seems like the time he got STILL would have been a record, he just wanted it to be a record by more for some reason. i don't understand why he'd do that when he actually would have had the record anyway. truly bizarre
the lore of this speedrun is insane.
It’s actually crazy how nobody actually just timed his run to see if it even matched up. However, most likely people were so focused on his system time and the black box that when that didn’t work, everyone was just split. Couple that with the category losing all interest once the servers shut down, and I can see how something like that could be overlooked for so long. It was a meme category after all.

Honestly kinda impressive he had the confidence to post proof of his own cheating as evidence that the run wasn’t cheated just for no one to even notice for 7 years.

This is one of those things where it’s questionable how nobody found this. This seems like the most obvious thing to do
Perhaps people simply didn't bother to scrutinize the raw footage (beyond focusing on what the black box obstructed previously), given that the run had already been rejected and wasn't resubmitted. I guess it never occurred to anyone that Camelogical performed an unrelated splice - _and_ sloppily failed to recreate it.

Absolutely love that in this whole video, this guy is referring to himself in the third person. Especially loved the bit where he went "there's this awesome video you can watch" and it's his own video. I wish I had that level of self love

I think it’s important that everyone in all speedrun communities watch these types of content even if it isn’t in games they might not usually play / watch themselves so we all stay informed on cheating red flags to watch out for.
The more cheaters that get exposed the harder it is to cheat.
We need a new speedrun about getting banned from speedrunning leaderboards
Going through the effort to put a clip with a handcam only to lazily cut to a clip without one is so much more suspicious than just submitting a run without a handcam lol, gotta wonder what exactly he was trying to accomplish

I didnt even know this game had a speedeunning community, its just fun to watch videos about ppl who ruined their status because they wanted to "be the best" in what is probably the most niche category in speedrunning as a whole. This is like the spaceuk situation in geometry dash. It starts with a top player who seems to be miles ahead of the competition, coasts for years, then gets exposed for cheating in the most blatantly obvious manner.
Now, where is the hero of the day himself?

I get why the moderators are reluctant to remove Camelogical's other speedruns as the game is shutdown and it's part of history but he was caught cheating twice so who knows how many more were cheated. It is also a major disrespect to everyone who participated in the speed run by leaving a cheated run among them.

I've always been personally of the opinion that if someone is caught cheating, all of their times should be removed. What's more fair, leaving up a run that has a high likelihood of being cheated above legitimate runs, or potentially being unfair to the cheater and removing it even if it wasn't cheated? Worst case scenario, the cheater gets a taste of their own medicine.
