    That line where he said “call me big daddy, plus I got the cane and lean on me” has like 4 or 5 meanings.
    1. Big daddy kane had a song called rap summary which had a line that said “lean on me”
    2. Big daddy is another name for a pimp, a pimp has a cane and the girls lean on him.
    3. It’s also a drug reference to Cocaine and lean
    4. A cane is something you lean on
    5. Cane can also refer to a Candy Cane to fit in with the Christmas scheme he had earlier.

      @egirlscanruinmylife Pƙed 2 lety +25

      So, I caught two more things and I'm going to correct you in one thing, Knox. You really are the goat of breakdowns. So, when Em said that he has no L's, the L's isn't a homophone for Noel, which refers to The First Noel and that is a Christmas carol. Then, when he shouted out Big Daddy Kane, the "caine" is a homophone for "cane", which continues the Christmas scheme. And when he was talking about the reindeers, he said "rain, deer" at the end of a line, which is a homophone for "reindeer", you might have pointed that out, but I'm not sure. This track is amazing and Eminem outshined himself once again, and I'm sure it's not for the last time. I'm truly amazed

    • @virbenav
      @virbenav Pƙed 2 lety +44

      @@egirlscanruinmylife the "rain deer" line goes even a step further. Em says "that's a lot of bucks flying when I'm making it rain (rein)deer," like Santa's reindeer...I caught that too.
      But this line is also Em talking about him making it rain "bucks," so he could also be making it rain deer (bucks). Considering he's also talking to "lady," Em says "that's a lot of bucks flying when I'm making it rain, dear," so he's talking about all of his money, while also addressing her as "dear". Em gives us three different connections to one line:
      Reindeer
      Rain deer
      Rain, dear
      He's taking reindeer, comparing this to it literally raining deer (in a figurative way), and also connecting it to making it figuratively rain (with money), dear. It's crazy how he plays with words so subtly dude

    Crazy good breakdown! A few additions: the Kane/Cane also is half a reference/a double reference back to the Santa Claus/Christmas scheme: during Christmas you have the white and red striped sugar canes plus cocaine is also snow - another Christmas symbol. Crazy, crazy stuff from Eminem. To be honest, what sets Nas apart is more a song like Moments (or I Gave You Power, Last Words, Fetus, Dance, Heaven) or how Nas paints pictures with a single line. Nas is maybe my favourite rapper. He puts the poetry in Rhythm and Poetry, but I don't think anyone touches Eminem when it comes to rhyme and flow schemes. On this song Nas didn't seem to go as HAM on the rhyme schemes as he did on The Don or Nasty. His entire verse seemed to be a layup to Eminem. Even the way he is scratched back to finish Eminem's sentence gives that impression

My whole life, I've wanted to give to other people because of the reward of their happiness is something I can't get enough of. They say you'll never be satisfied if you're motivated by fame, accolades, or fortune, but making other's day better is something I never want to be satisfied with.
