I really like Tankarina builds but I'm still not super good at actually playing it in lane. You're definitely right that each rune plays pretty different on her.

Personally, I've seen good success with just trading when enemy has 1 ability on CD and you have grasp stacked, so you proc grasp and 100% win trade if you just engage at the right moment :)

iv been testing this and i actually think treasure hunter is better then ingenius because you usually arent in a fight long enouph for the heartsteel cooldown reduction to matter and getting the 2-3 item power spike is essential to winning with this build so i feel treasure hunter is much more consistant.

So crazy I just use this build to get into Plat! I grasp and rush heartsteel, than I go titanic and demonic embrace ( the ap scaling health item) by the end of 3 items you can have almost 6k hp close to 200 ad and 140 ap it's insane you can go whatever items needed to do end the game. It definitely has it usese in certain matchups but it just fits my style of kat so well

It seems grasp is her perfect rune as she always wanted to short trade anyway.
then in combination of tank items being insanely good, allows her to stay in scrappy fights and get the resets.. then the scaling is just op

The biggest problem of katarina is that she doesn't have sustainability to stand in the lane
Taking grasp helps her sustainability in lane

i found that this build works well into mages and assassins but anything else you just get rolled

i dont really like this build, because often, its like inting sion, you will farm stacks of grasp and heartsteel, but you dont have enough damage to actually kill someone quickly. And you can finally play when you have 2 items but its still not that great, you have a lot of hp but 0 resistance, any champ with botrk will melt you, but its ok, you are still a tankier than a normal kat.
Even damage arent that good.
Overall, i would prefer the sunderer conqueror build if you want some tankiness and damage + regen.
