- Top Gun Dog Fight scene from the 1986 action movie that introduced the United States Navy F-14 Tomcat to the world. The F-14 Tomcat ruled the skies for over a decade.
Top Gun starring Tom Cruise as Maverick, Kelly McGillis as Charlie, Val Kilmer as Iceman, Anthony Edwards as Goose and Tom Skerritt as Viper. - Zábava
Oh Yeah! F-14s of the Iranian Air Force also ruled the sky during the Iran/Iraq War (1980 - 1988). Although two Tomcats were lost during air combat engagements with Iraqi fighters, they shot down more Iraqi planes than any fighter in Iran's arsenal. Jalil Zandi became an ace with 11 victories flying the F-14 making him the most successful Tomcat pilot of the war. Sadly, he died with his wife in a car accident near Tehran in 2001. May their souls rest in peace. F-14s are awesome majestic warbirds.
Geez I crack myself up!
"greetings" lol favorite part. XD
Maverick: Greetings*Fliping the bird*
Goose: Watch the birdy* Takes picture*
Classic top gun.
RIP Tony Scott!!! One of my favorite movies of all time.
l love how they used F-5's and called the MiG-28's. Like they expected nobody in the theater to know the difference. Or maybe I'm just a nerd when it comes to military aircraft. I guess they figured if they just made up a MiG it would help suspend everyone's disbelief.
Still loved this movie, though.
You know what would be cool, if we had dog fight training with our allies
I love when F-5 turn into fictional MiG-28 =)
I honestly think the scene after this one when Stinger is talking to Maverick in his office about how he should have landed his plane is funny as hell, especially at the end when he tells Maverick: "You screw up just this much, you'll be flying a cargo plane full of rubber dog shit out of Hong Kong!" I actually used to think when Stinger told him that, that he was holding rubber dog shit between his fingers, not a cigar.
i love the radio speaks :)))))
3:16 - great advice, Stinger!
I guess Goose carrys a camera on missions lol
The F-14 Tomcat was the best darned interceptor/fighter ever!
those bogies look like F-5s
I love this movie though
Translation:
Ghostrider: "Mustang, is missile lock sufficient provocation for open combat?"
Mustang: "Negative."
the F-14 was the best ever
Best part of this film is the raw aerial footage. No mocap or cg in this.
Maverick: I started up on a 6, when he pulled from the clouds, and then I moved in above him.
Charlie: well, if you were directly above him, how could you see him?
Maverick: because I was inverted.
Dammit cougar, we told you to stop waxin the cockpit in the cockpit!
What the Soviets actually brought out next was the MiG-29 Fulcrum, first publicly displayed on the international stage at an exhibit in Finland in July 1986, which is still in operation today due to being one of the better Soviet designs of all time.
'Im gonna break high and right see if hes not alone' *breaks low and right*.....O-kay
Top Gun 2 with US F-14 and Polish MIG-29's :3
So how did cougar switch planes with maverick at the beginning of the clip. Mavs In 203 and cougar on 114? It should be 114 Mav and 203 cougar
That mig-28 pilot really got pissed off :)
Fricking cliffhangers....
4:12 "U mad??"
Oh wow! There is a reason why it was so cool when it first came out. This was made in the 80's there were tons of stuffs they wanna do but the costs of making them was so high. There was a thing called budget. You really think regular people can understand what real pilots really talking about? With today technology, that inverted flying would look more realistic and awesome.
talk to me Goose
I think the original motion picture was faster than when it went to VHS.
I you slow it down -4 it sounds better
at 4:00 where is Gouger when Maverick goes inverted?
HiTechOilco the British Cold War interceptor is the best cos it was the only plane to go SUPERSONIC MACH 2 in a STEEP CLIMB
Wow!. Good post!.
4:10 russian pilot: "damn it not Again..."
4:04 to 4:20 is the best scene
I like how the "mig-28's" are actually just F-5's
"He's got missile lock on me do I have permission to fire"? Does he have one of those new backward firing missiles?
Of course. My point was that if your opponent has a missile lock on you, probably the last thing on your mind would be to open fire, more likely you would be trying to save your sorry ass as a higher priority.
Also if your life is being directly threatened in such an obvious way it would be doubtful that you would bother to ask, regardless of your ROE. As a British soldier once told me "its better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6"
f-14 and the f-5 are plans from the same company Northrop Grumman if I'm not mistaken!
I remember this when I first saw this at age 14, thought it was so cool.
Looking at it again many years later, and looking at it now, I can't barely watch it, so f..king bad, so many lightyears away from reality, such bad simpleminded conversations, photoshop flying inverted about 3 ft. from the canopy of the MIG-28 aka F-5, yeah right, anything is possible for the all american superhero fighterpilots.
It's so horribly bad I think I can never watch it again. :)
@FullOfDookies There was a sequel to this?
Looks like their CO joined in too.
In this video, there is airplanes, just in case anybody was wondering.
I still find the F-15E Strike Eagle better, But its opinion
this was filmed in the 80s
The russians look so much cooler with their visors down. 1:31
Any MiG with an even number is not a real aircraft.
why isnt anyone sayin that those are NOT migs!!??LOL
because there F 5 tigers. Migs was just a name they used for them in the movie. there's not such thing as a mig 28
angels 10 left 3-0? it's like 2-7-0?
GMO Christain hehehe. LUVBUG
Is this your idea of fun Mav?
@MyLittleREAGAN LOL
*Cough BULLSHIT *Cough
;)
just sounds more concise.
What a completely irresponsible thing to do haha. A mig's got radar lock on his wingman and he decides to try to fly above him and take a picture. Awesome movie though.
Lol
@mks11234 I thought the movie was made after 92
Nowadays... Hollywood wouldn't even bother getting actual footage. They'd use Industrial Light and Magic for everything but the actors.
which means we would be spared having to watch a movie and pretend that painted T-38s or F-5's are "enemy" aircraft.
The outside flying was real
just saying there not mig 28's there F5's and i know it would be hard to get mig 28 jets for the film but am just saying :)
Then he pulls up
Because a missile can't turn...
4:14
Is this possible?
yes it is possible
thats possible turkish stars are doing that every year and more cloeser :)))
@kolop556 "Do not fire until fired upon!"
Excuse me, it's on record the Pentagon was involved in mnaking this movie and approving of all the various recording of the movie.
Applications for the military, especially the Navy, rose about 500% I believe, but u should check that one out for urself.
And btw, the US Govt. IS trying to take over ur country and take away most of basic ur rights.
Do u have any idea how many there are left and which ones have already been taken away? Right now YOU can be abducted & put away, without a trial.
The reason it was so cool is because this movie was made for children between the age of say 14 to 18, to lure them to join the military, especially the navy. Sort of a propgandastunt if u will, sponsored by the Pentagon of course.
The inverted flying would be much more realistic of course, except that it would still be VERY UNrealistic to pull out a manouvre like that, way too much risk. The thing that I find most unrealistic is the attitude of the pilots, but hey, classic Hollywood, right?.
Whats 20 left, 30 miles, 900 knots closure?
+Mac 900 knots closure refers to the speed that the two jets are getting closer to each other. I believe 30 miles means that the MiGs are 30 miles away from them.
Then what's "20 left?" I figured the other two out but still don't know 20 left. Guess it's some wired radar reading.
+Mac Don't quote me on this, but I believe it is the bearing of the MiGs in relation to the F-14s current heading. Meaning the MiGs are 20 degrees left of where the F-14's nose is pointed... that could be wrong, though.
+Mac It might be 20 degrees off the nose. So maybe it's the same as "bearing 340?" Just a guess.
+semiauto25 Only if the F-14s are heading due north.
Not that sharply they cant.
There voices are f**ked up lol
@chemislife They are, hollywood couldn't get actual mig 28s for this movie. lol
The russian jets are historicly wrong. The mig-28 never existed or was produced. Knstead, they used northop F-5 tigers
And that has nothing to do with the movie.
I see, u still believe in the sincerity of the US Govt., u still honestly believe the Govt. would never hurt an "ordinary Joe" if that would better the situation for them.
Pay close attention if u will AFAUXCADRE,
The definition of a terrorist, what is that? The Govt. can label anyone a terrorist, if THEY think u are a terrorist. If it is YOU, who don't like what the US Govt. is doing, then YOU are basically a THREAT to the security of the US in the eyes of your govt.. Did u get that?
This massage is to all so called "military experts" there is no such thing as MiG-28, it's fictional plane. There is Mi-28 but its a assault helicopter and there is also Su-28 training aircraft. So Lt.Pancake do your homework first and then be a smart ass.
The US Govt. don't want any change, they like it how it is and will continue to take away more right if the people aren't careful. U have no idea it seems of the deep shit you're in and the shit we're all in at the moment. The Americans have slowly been robbed of some of their basic rights and many of them aren't even aware of the threat THAT"S posing to the "security of the US".
Fear of terrorism fuels it all, the people have to be afraid, one way or another, at all costs.
Wake up dude.
No such thing as a mig 28
ugh... Cougar is not maneuvering well enough to convince me he's unable to shake him. I could maneuver better in Ace Combat with the same fighter against an F-5!
its a movie shithead
vlad77
No need for foul language! sorry if I offended you with my opinion.
***** Well excuse me, kid! Watch your language!
No there not. Read your footnotes on images and forums when you google mig 28. There a fictional name used in movies. Do your research
This movie won the Cold War. Those rat commie bastards saw this move and knew it was only a matter of time before president Reagan declared victory
*Cough* Bullshit..
a movie for spoil kids!!
Bullsh.... (cough)
Right now, Obama can have u assassinated, when he feels u are a threat to national security. He does not need any proof for this. For u there's no due process, no habeas corpus, the govt. can pick u up from ur house, only for u to never be seen again.
That's what happened, without most Americans knwoing it. That's because all these senators keep looking the other way. But don't believe me, check it out for urself.
I'm just telling u that ur country is on the brink of becoming a policestate.
This movie is so gay.
