Watching this made me realise how dark Up actually was. Carl being forced to give up the house he and his wife built for a construction site, him hitting the worker and causing him to bleed, the dogs falling to their deaths, and the Snipe guy deliberately willing to kill a kid just so he can keep the snipe.
And that's only scratching the surface.

Something that never sat right with me was how Carl was going to be forced into the retirement home. I know he hit that guy but it was one offense. I know those lawyers probably had something to do with it, I just never thought it’d be that easy for them to do it on a first time thing.
The Korean dubbing team at that time was truly a dream team. Even though some of them were not voice actors, their voices matched really well and they were actors who suited the image of the time. In particular, actor Lee Soon-jae, who was dubbed by Carl Fredrickson, received the best evaluation among non-voice actor dubbing in Korea.
And Up was my favorite movie when I was young, so much so that I watched it every year along with Ghibli's The Porco Rosso. Not because it had any big lesson or message, but because it was a movie that warmed my heart and made me feel healed. Especially now that I've been exposed to a lot of stimulating things lately, I miss this feeling even more.

I love the fact that Cas Van de Pol did little to know jokes in the opening leading up to Ellie's death. even he wanted to treat the scene with as much dignity as it deserved.
Only joke he did was the her busting through the wood but that’s basically what happened
These animations remind me of the time I was a kid, and I got pretty impressed when Russel said "안녕하세요"(Hello) in Korean. At that time, we could easily find animation movies with Korean dubbing, but "UP" was the most memorable one. I remember keeping its A4 size poster for a while.
As a Korean, Now I'm in the middle of Chuseok holiday, and meeting my grandpa, grandma, uncles and cousuins. Hope I have some time to watch the original movies with them.
