What is the Best Inktense Product on Fabric? Pencils, Pans, or Blocks?

  • I'm comparing Inktense Pencils, Blocks, and Pans head to head. Is one better than the others? Are they even different at all? Materials and a surface to test on, (I’m using an eco cotton market bag- no prep except for quick ironing to flatten out the wrinkles).
    I used my iPhone with the Da Vinci Eye AR Projector App to transfer the flower and leaves design and then colored it in with all 3 of the Inktense varieties for a head-to-head comparison.

    That was a great way to show how these work on canvas. I did try quick flower on white cotton. I have the pans. I was surprised how pretty they turned out. I thought it would be cool to do small panels for a quilt with hand painted fabric. Maybe one of these days. Have a great day Stephanie ❤

      Oh I’m so happy you gave this a try! This is so much fun! I will be trying more techniques with the different Inktense products soon!

    Thank you so much for showing such an inclusive comparison of these products. I am really not familiar with Inktense but I’ve seen you use them several times and I love the way they play. Each seems to have their own value and each seems to have different pros and cons depending upon the substrate you’re using them on. These lessons are so valuable, Stephanie, thank you so much for doing them and for showing us just how far outside of the box we can push our creativity! ❤

    I like the blocks..I've used them for quick drawings, like when on vacation, then when I'm home I can finish with water, and sometimes ink for detail!I have oil crayons too..love em!!

    I already have the pencils and the pans so as much as I might like to get the blocks, I think it might just be a waste of money. I will use the pencils, maybe in conjunction with the pans to get bright colors. Thanks for this video! I’m going to be making shopping bags for the cat charity I volunteer with, it’ll be fun.

    I have heard about these for years and just bought a small set to try them out. Q: If your color comes out too dark, can you lift some of it out while it’s still wet? Thank you for the excellent video!

    • @DeliberatelyCreative
      @DeliberatelyCreative  Před 21 dnem +1

      Yes, while it’s wet you can lift and scrub out much of the color. But you can never get it to compliment go back to the paper /fabric color- it will always stain

    Thanks for sharing this information, it's very helpful! I like the way the pencils look the best, maybe because that had the most product applied...? Is the inktense product permanent on fabric??

    • @DeliberatelyCreative
      @DeliberatelyCreative  Před 10 měsíci +2

      Thank you for watching and commenting! Yes, it is permanent on fabric- I would hit it with an iron and wash it in cold water. It is so fun to use the Inktense in many ways.

      I like seeing your comparisons of the three. I have had the pans for a couple years. I painted canvas shoes and they are bright and vibrant. So I was surprised by the outcome for you on your bag. I must have used more product? I recently bought the pencils but haven’t used them yet. I chose them over the blocks for ease of use & more control. I want to paint fabric blocks that my sister will then turn into a quilt. Great video- thank you!

    How did you keep the colors from bleeding? I tried this with hardly any water and the edges still bled. Thanks :)

    • @DeliberatelyCreative
      @DeliberatelyCreative  Před měsícem +2

      If you are doing this on fabric you can use a fabric medium as your wetting agent instead of water.
      If you need to use water don wet all the way to your outlines. Stay back 1/8-1/4”.

      You can use the blocks just like the watercolor! Bonus with the blocks is that you can pick them up and draw, sketch, color and paint.

    but is it permanent? washable?

    • @DeliberatelyCreative
      @DeliberatelyCreative  Před 6 měsíci

      Yes it is a permanent pigment after it is activated with water or fabric medium on porous surfaces

      @@DeliberatelyCreative do you use any fixing agent? I know it’s ink and permanent…. But someone recently suggested I use a fixing agent anyway. 🤷‍♀️just curious what others do.

    • @DeliberatelyCreative
      @DeliberatelyCreative  Před 2 měsíci

      @thecheekyquilters I don’t tend to use fixing mediums much. I like ease of just grabbing a cup of water and the Inktense. You can was the items in cold water with white vinegar as a fixative.
