Personally I like a completely clean slate. I like unstaged homes. It allows buyers/renters more room literally to creativity and imagine a plan.

Nothing about this space is soft. The furniture is all hard, sharp edges, lots of glass and metal. Not enough rugs or curtains to soften the incredibly noisy room.

As a buyer, I hate staged homes. They look utterly fake. I'd rather see the owners messy home or an empty house than walk through a fake ass space.
