Codie, what softwares do you use to manage all of your businesses? I'm talking about income, daily tasks, output accountability, etc?
This was so insightful. Take notes people, as a restaurant owner (who bought an existing restaurant with partial seller financing) this is 100% possible. Once my restaurant is paid off, I plan on using Codie’s advice and strategies to buy more existing businesses because I know it works…I’m doing it as I type this out
I do have a piece of advice. Don’t buy a plumbing company if you can’t spot if the work your people are doing is good or bad. Or any other service business.
She looks at this from a different lense. Because she buys legacy businesses who have done well, so they've likely done a good job for their customers.
If a plumbing company was profitable over 10 years, they probably know what they are doing. She is also really, really wealthy, so she puts in a manager that
runs the show, she just collects the money and puts some marketing power behind it. Which can be a big growth driver as well, because a lot of legacy businesses
are really good at what they do, but operated by an older gentlemen or couple. People who buy adverts in the newspaper, but haven't cracked the code on Instagram
marketing, how to leverage google maps, recommendation on google etc.
Since she owns a marketing agency and she and her husband have a big social media team, that's a pretty smart combination :D
@@DerDudelino if the plumbing company was profitable for 10 years and you buy it today, what will you do if the manager or main plumber/s leave who made the business profitable for 10 years?? its the people ( plumbers) who made it, so you have to be a good plumber to make it work after buying the business in case the manager or the good plumber/s leave...if you don't have experience as a plumber or not good at plumbing or managing business, then you will drown the business in a few weeks and wasted your money...another problem with service businesses is after a new buyer starts to run the business, sometimes (not always ofcourse) the existing clients/customers stop using the business because they had a good relation with the previous owner/manager and may not like you or may not want to deal with new owner...

Buy a good cross section of an economy, Build a diverse portfolio that keeps you motivated,Speed up the process where possible:i'm all for dividends and i DRIP into etfs (ARKW, VOO, VXUS, IVV) and company stocks. After my first million I realized that when a stock starts booming chances of you finding out means you are quite late to the party, for this I make sure my CFA handles that, ever grateful to Anna Rounds Fay.it's like turning your notifications to earn more millions.

This is great advice but I’m really bad with “simple.” I totally get AI and post quantum - but ask me , “what do people know for groceries,” I don’t f’n know I don’t eat like most people. “What do ppl need for their cars?” Idk f’n know I stay in my house. So I make plenty at my job, I’m tryin to figure out how to buy white collar not blue collar business cuz if it can be imagined, that’s more simple to me

Why would I ever sell my profitable business for as low as 3x of yearly cashflows when every business has also a lot of tangible assets like: infrastructure facilities, cars, know how, cash equivalents, materials etc. There is terminal value of every business. Someone needs to be out of his mind to price its business purely on cashlows. If I got car washing machine earning 1 million profit yearly, you always need to pay my x times cashlow + price for my car washing machine
