SILVA SCREEN RECORDS PRESENTS
GOOD OMENS
Composer David Arnold’s soundtrack to the highly anticipated TV adaptation of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s 1990 comic fable that packs a punch.
Following the odd couple, angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and demon Crowley (David Tennant) in their quest to sabotage the end of the World, Amazon Prime's six episode mini-series delivers a tongue in cheek adaptation of this powerful and funny story.
From the Award-winning composer of Sherlock and Casino Royale comes a soundtrack that perfectly complements the Good Omens’ drama and visual sensibilities. At times nostalgic and eerie but always varied, beautiful and full of excitement, this robust, yet funny music entity has become another character in the story. Here, Arnold has created a contemporary soundworld for heaven and hell.
The closing song is Tori Amos’ version of A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square, a British wartime favourite referenced at the end of the book, conjuring feelings of separation and pining for untroubled times, and including the lines "There was magic abroad in the air. There were angels dining at the Ritz. And a nightingale sang in Berkeley square".
Good Omens is produced by BBC Studios, Amazon Studios, Blank Corporation and Narrativia. The series is directed by Douglas Mackinnon and features the all-star cast including Michael Sheen, David Arnold, Frances McDorman, Brian Cox, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jon Hamm.
David Arnold is one of the UK’s leading film composers, composing scores for blockbusters including Stargate, The Chronicles of Narnia: the Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Hot Fuzz, Paul, Independence Day, 2 Fast 2 Furious and Casino Royale.
Also available on Silva Screen Records are David Arnold’s soundtracks Sherlock Series 1, Sherlock Series 2, Sherlock Series 3, Sherlock Series 4 and Sherlock - The Abominable Bride.
The Good Omens TV series launches on Amazon Prime Video around the world on Friday 31st May 2019 and will be shown on BBC2 in the autumn.

YES
Most angels fall, Crowley sauntered vaguely downwards.
I like how the song shifts from ‘normal’ to a more ‘angelic’ sounding tune to a more ‘evil’ sounding tune.
The literal opening proves opposites attract.
It goes to classic, romantic music you could waltz to, to bebop, loud, chaotic music that should be performed by a secondary school band called "Fallen Priests" (Don't ask, long story) and they go together *great* !
Okay Now I'm curious and i very much do want to ask

Their separate parts of the theme for their characters fits so well,,
A brilliant television series, one of the best in a while!
Who else here owns and/or has read the book? I han't gotten through much of the show, but from what I have seen, it's almost Harry Potter level of faithful to the book.
Ive read the book and I just finished episode 1 and MY GOSH it's super faithful to the book. I read that Neil wanted it to keep it true to the source material, to honour the memory of Terry Prachett.
I haven’t read the book. I’ve heard there are a few select differences, but seeing as Neil himself wrote the show, I don’t have a problem with that.
@@Arkatox there are parts from the first ep (which is the only ep ive watch so far still //suffering) there are a few scenes that I didnt remember happening
For an example Gabriel contacting Azira isnt in the books. At least not that early on. Crowley and Azira also didnt visit heaven/hell. Hastur burning down the nunnary is just briefly only mentioned by crowley after they visited the nunnary (paintball offices lmao) in the books but is now seen properly within ep 1 as after the switch was done. (for clearer timeline flow)
A lot of subtle differences that doesnt really merit a fandom outrage for "Not Being True To The Book" since it makes the story plot clearer. It's so fun, this series, honestly!
Over 30 years or so, I've bought upwards of a dozen copies, most of which have then been gifted away to friends and such :)
Harry Potter and the Sorceror’s Stone, or Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban onward?
At this moment, I have listened to this over 10 times in a row. By far the best theme song to a show I've ever heard, with Sherlock being a close second (obviously).

Now I think HBOs His Dark Materials has a lovely opening as well. It has this powerful 'angelic' vibrations to it.
Any Doctor Who fans notice the license plate for Adam's parents when they're driving to the hospital is "TARDIS" backward? (also Crowley's car has "CURTAIN" backward, but I don't know if that is a reference to anything)
I didn’t catch that! I wondered if there were any hidden Doctor Who references.

I am absolutely going insane after watching season 2.
just finished binge watching it. loved it!! really like the theme music. i thought it was very douglas adams' ish, especially in the beginning. british humor is so smart.
From what i have heard Terry Pratchett wrote personally to Neil Gaiman shortly before he died begging Neil to make the show himself.
The show is a labor of love from one friend to another AND IT SHOWS!
Terry said in a talk on the book in 2004 that because Neil was deep in Sandman at the time, he did the bulk of the actual writing. They collaborated equally on the story, but most of the words are Terry's. And Neil did a beautiful job preserving as many of those words as he could in the script for the show. That humor is 75% Terry Pratchett, and the core themes of the story have a lot in common with his Discworld stories,
Their pact had been to see the show to the screen together, with the promise that neither would do it without the other. But yes, shortly before he died (which happened unexpectedly when it did, as a result of another illness), he asked Neil to carry on without him if it came to that.
dude, read every pratchett book you can get your hands on! if you enjoyed this (and the book) you will love discworld's (many) series. i suggest death, witches, and wizards' first, but try and go in order of story, not order of all books written. (like 1, 2, 3, etc... of death, 1, 2, 3, etc... of the witches... and so on) happy reading! there is a laugh on every page!
It did have a Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy feel to it. Especially with the narration. I loved it.
Wayne Heyward I looked up the wiki entry for the book, and they list the reasons Pratchett have for why he handled most of the writing, which are “1) Neil had schedule commitments for Sandman but I could pause Discworld writing if I wanted, 2) SOMEONE needed to be overall editor, and 3) I’m a selfish bastard and wanted to write the good bits before Neil got to them.” I love it.
How did it take me this long to notice that 0:51 is The same melody as the demonic lullaby Crowley sings to Warlock, lol 🖤
I honestly don't think you could have got a better opening song for this title sequence, it's this perfectly melodic, yet distorted waltz that perfectly complements the series. I have zero intention of skipping this intro sequence, no matter how many times I re-watch this amazing series.
One of the three long openings I will NEVER skip

I think the only thing I didn't like about this show is how short Satan and the horsemen (well I guess now motorcyclemen) had screentime.
Yes. That was a tad disappointing. But non the less it was great.
Well they do not have THAT much time in the book either, so it's kinda logical, but they are so badass I get your point.
They didn't have budget anymore :( And had to cut out several scenes because of it.
Agreed. It was kind of anticlimactic. The way the series introduced them made me think something bigger would happen.

You know, sometimes, most of the time actually, it's best when something ends while it's at its pinnacle! Only watched the first two episodes so far, loving it as it's a perfect match for the book and has such a brilliant cast, but I'm confident it will be as great till the end. And I'll be entirely satisfied. Most often, when you push it, you push it too far and the magic breaks (when I say "you" it's not you personally of course ;) ). I prefer a great mini-series to a mildly pleasant multiple seasons show. :)

Only when I downloaded the sheets of this music I recognized the Fur Elise reference. Now I love this theme even more)
I love that it is a waltz
The thing I loved about this show was just how short it was, it was absolutely amazing, it had it's beginning, middle and end.
This show had a story that was just fun, there is no need for a sequel. If there was though, that could also be fun, this series was just so much fun to me.
I love a good story and this show definitely delivers on that. I'm always recommendeding it to my friends, I love it.
There is no need for more, thank that ineffable God that there wasn't less, it is perfect as it is.
I absolutely love this piece. It clearly shows their themes, you can see Aziraphale, Crowley, them together AND also the progression of the plot in it. It's a masterpiece!
This theme belongs right up there with the Addams Family and Jurassic Park theme songs. Iconic. Perfection.
i set this for my ringtone and forgot i had it saved to a playlist, so in the middle of drawing, i hear this and immediately reach for my phone, which is at the other side of the house
So glad I decided to try this show. Easily my second favorite behind Chernobyl. At least some people out there know how to write good stories and direct.
I shouldn't be listening to this before i sleep, now i have to rewatch the entire series for the 4th time *but im not complaining*
One more positive point of this series is now we have a new set of costumes for Halloween party for couples.......Aziraphel and Crowley.
