  • I am a C5-6 quadriplegic for 33 years and this is how I transfer into my bed. Right now, my triceps are very weak so it's very difficult to transfer and I am not using a transfer board.
I'm currently going to physical and occupational therapy do some upper body strengthening to improve my wheelchair transfer skills. I'm also trying to straighten out the contractures in my arms so that they will lock during transfers. Being able to lock your arms during the transfers is a must in order to do wheelchair transfers efficiently and safely. As you can see in this video I am unable to do that through most of the transfer
After many years it's never too old to try new things and I now know that an aging body gets weaker over time and it's good idea to keep your body shape as you age. Your butt will thank you for it later.
Later I will post a new video with my improved transfers using a transfer board.

    We need devices.
A claw hook vending machine picks up stuffed toys.
Forty years ago Transfomer toys were made popular. Wheelchair should extend a catwalk. Wheelchairs should be voice controlled.
The wheelchair should deposit the user into the bed and grab him a beer.
There is money available now for research and development. We sure need some innovation.
