- The world's biggest Titanic visitor attraction opens in the ship's Belfast birthplace on Saturday, 100 years to the day since the doomed liner was completed in the same yards. Northern Ireland hopes the eye-catching centre will kick-start its tourism economy and attract visitors from around the world. Duration: 02:15
My grandfather worked on the Titanic... My mother told me, just like the video says, that the workers were of the highest caliber and it was not because of them that it sank. It was a disaster at sea. Thank you for this post!
I think it's disappointing that there are no artifacts from the ship on display.
Just saw Titanic Belfast - it was fabulous!!
i read the first class staircase is closed off to the public visitors, its only available to conferences etc. pity the general public visiting can't get to see it.
1:32 : Stairs are wrong. There isn't a flat piece between the steps...
the staircase is for functions and weddings, it's changed on purpose (a landing in the middle etc.)
Titanic was designated as RMS pal, not HMS for a start. She was built in the UK and if you look up White Star Line, the company was headquartered in London, until they merged with Cunard Line in 1934. The ship has nothing to do with America what so ever.
May all those who died tragically in this maiden voyage of the titanic be at peace, regardless of their national identity or religious affiliation. Rest in peace all who perished that fatefull night.
A lot of artifacts have been recovered over the years and put on display. I've seen some of them at the Titanic artifact exhibit in Times Square New York.
no she wasn't. She was a Royal Mail Ship owned by the White Star Line which was a British Cruise Liner company.
Thank you for the correction.
Titanic-facts (dot com) said: Was the Titanic a British ship or an American ship?
Although a number of prominent American families were aboard the ocean liner, the Titanic was a British ship. What ship building company built the Titanic?
The Titanic was constructed by Harland and Wolf in Belfast, Ireland.
Interesting! I googled a lot actually but finally found this: The RMS Titanic, like all the other ships of the White Star fleet, was a British ship, and technically, as an American, J.P. Morgan could not own British ships. Nevertheless, Morgan took advantage of the loophole that his holding company, IMM, could own the company that owned the ships. For all intents and purposes, J.P. Morgan owned RMS Titanic So you are correct! Other sites I found did not mention this or go into detail.
Did anyone else notice that there is no sound for the interview.
Can you site your source where you read it's American owned? Thank you!
Its only 150km from me, i gonna go there for sure
Harland and Wolff was and still is a Northern Irish company, so im not sure where that one came from. Cunard Line was a direct comeptitor of the IMMC, not owned by them. I think you need to do some Googling yourself.
I would go if it wasn't almost $1300 for a plane ticket there by itself. :(
I thought Titanic was just a film.
The building looks dirty and the staircase is inaccurate
