This song broke my heart. Again, Amity is my favorite character, and while I expected angst for this musical, this song is just written perfectly. You summed Amity up perfectly - honorable, hard-working, yes, a bully, and someone who knows she is, and also more an anything, LONELY. Also her singing about Luz in such a heartbreaking way, even BEFORE she falls for her, god. I was tearing up the first time I heard it, and I'm tearing up right now. Bravo, sir.
One of my favorite things about this song is the subtle hints of little miss perfect shining through. Barely anyone is mentioning it, because it blends in the song so perfectly.

Wow, really well done on conveying how much Amity works and works for the recognition she deserves, but also how that is hurting her when she is doing it for others due to expectations, especially when comparing herself with Luz, upset at how Luz gets some things easier, but also admires her own dedication.

this song gives the same vibes as wait for it (hamilton) not only the line "hamilton faces an endless uphill climb" but these two songs are the tuning points for amity and burr. burr just turned from alexs first friend to potentially a main antagonist. we get a more 3d view of amity as she becomes frustrated and hopeless and scared for her future because of luz, which burr also is expressing. these two songs have a very similar meaning even. the kind of 'im biding my time because i know i deserve my chance to be recognized. oh wait this new person is stealing my spot in the world' feel. sorry. random thought.
