I love my Orbiter, and I always expect to run a lot. On a perfect throw, the Orbiter will flare up at the last 20 feet or so, then flat-spin straight down. I can often run underneath it for the catch. Favorite beach exercise! Edit: I have 3 Orbiters and hope to someday pull off the Triple Throw and Catch!

I always forget to aim down is replica to my first take at my Aerobie Orbiter. After reading how to throw it. I'm here on the other side of a bachelors with the masters ahead. I find in my childhood years when first starting out in academics, 2nd grade " Terrill I'm going to boomerang your college degrees back to me because I am not an indifferent bystander". This was pertaining to after I was to graduate my eight college semesters a bachelors format. I'm getting the education down on the Aerobie Orbiter as I set sail to give it a spin again. Terrill TC!

Great video, try throwing weaker and putting more forward spin for high wind catch runs. I kind of snap it into the spin so it eats more wind to help slow it so it doesnt 540 over my head due to high wind. Cool rubberband trick, I want to try it.

Best to use is a led of 3mm thick.
Fits nice in 5mm 10 layer plywood.
Going to test them in 4mm 8 layers or 4 mm polypropyleen later.

How are you meant to throw it? My orbiter seems to not want to work properly

    • @klungelair
      @klungelair Před 3 lety

The Orbiter is not the best boomerang.
Throw only on low or no wind days.
Give the boomerang positive dihadral by bending the wings up.
Throw with som lay-over, 30° can be a good starting point.
Throw him straight forward or a little bit down, find a spot in the distance near the ground and aim to that point.
Do not throw him upwards, this will not work.
Do not throw to hard, just give it fast throw with a lot of spin.
It is not the power you give it that make it fly, it is all about technique, it takes some time to find the sweet point. Normaly it takes 2 or 3 throws to get my boomerangs to have a good flight on a normal day, for the Orbiter I sure need 15 or 20 throws to get it where I want him😉

@@klungelair Have you tried throwing the new orbiter? The Aerobie company was bought, and now they are manufactured differently. I have read that the new orbiter looks similar but does not perform very well at all. This might be the reason that people comment they can't get it to come back, because the have the new lower quality version.
I would be interested to see you try the new one, and to give your thoughts on if there is a difference or not. For reference, you have the old version, with the big block letter logo. The new version has a swoosh design around the AEROBIE writing and does not say "boomerang" in small writing.

Do not give up, go only throwing in low or no wind days. (Not like in this video) Early in the morning or in the evening there is mostlikely less wind.
Remember that you have to be sure you have a good boomerang, the question is when do you know ;-)
Also have to know that it is all about the throwing, every boomerang needs a different throw.
Do not throw to hard (biggest misstake in the beginnig) the boomerang needs a lot of spin and the right angle and lay over.
Find someone in your neighborhood to show you how it is done, that makes it easier.
I learnd it on myself and I can tell you it takes some time that way but you learn a lot ;-)

@@klungelair this is great piece of advice and motivation Andy. Thanks a great deal. As far as finding someone to teach me, that will be a bit challenging. I live in Eastern Europe, I never seen anyone playing with boomerangs around here. But I did get interested in them when buying my daughter a returning toy plane. It just happened that this Orbiter was on the same aisle so I bought the Orbiter as well. We went to our usually field were we play. I watched a quick CZcams tutorial then started throwing my boomerang. There were other people there watching me curiously. My returns were unsuccessful and yes wind was strong always changing direction. I was also doing all the mistakes you described. Needless to say my Orbiter almost hit a few people and it was all so embarrassing. Yet I keep searching for tutorials like yours and it helps a great deal. Best regards

It needs a specific throw and is not that forgiving, if you fibd the sweet spot it can be a lot of fun but you have more change to get frustrated.
Start with a short range 3-winged boomerang (Sunfly) .
3 wings are more forgiving and once you discoverd what impact youre throw misstakes have you can improve yourself in a short time.
Go throwing every day for 30 minutes in low or no wind.
One day you find out " I got it" and the next day it will be bad again ;-)
If you realy want it... you can.....
If you got it, it becomes even more fun. Everyday is an other challenge.
If you are on fb, you can check out The world of boomerang. Lot of great guys there who can help you out

@@klungelair Hi Andy, just a quick update from me. Got myself a 3 winged soft boomerang from the same shop. It's a beginner 25 meter range from Tribord, Decathlon. noticed this one actually returns. I've tuned it and within an hour I was also able to catch it a few times. It seems the 3 winged kind of boomerang has a very smooth landing almost like a helicopter, windy or not. While the Orbiter lands chaotic and very aggresive. Needless to say, I bought the 3 winged exclusively from your recommendation and it was the most fun I had in a while. Thank you kindly
