スタッフロールの作画スタッフ見て大物アニメーターが結構参加していたのでこのクオリティだと納得した作品、サンライズの肝いり映画ってことがよく分かる
These are my favourite kinds of videos. Hopefully with the new Japanese prime minister announcing his love and respect for anime and claiming to fund it more and increase pay, he was referring to the actual creators, artists and animators rather than the executives...
Executives are leeches and parasites. They steal from the hard work of the people beneath them.
Feel sad for Hathaway’s end. What shocked me most was not the scene of Intense air battle , but the strong contrast between Gigi and Kenneth enjoying upper class life on the upstairs dance floor when Hathaway lay alone on the hotel bed in the night, wept for the future of mankind and the earth.
Hathaway was only a fleeting flash in the end, but what he did was not meaningless.
For all we know, the ending could be differ

今まで見てたアニメの中で一番作画がすげぇ
これには2部 3部に期待が膨らむ！
小型の飛行機で飛ぶシーンの辺りは映画館で見ても実際の動画にしか見えなかった。目が悪いってのもあるだろうけどそれでもそうとう作画は細かいよね。

最終的な完成品は暗いシーンばかりで俺の目には暗闇の中での閃光しか見えません。
制作過程の映像で暗闇の中の動きがわかったような気がします。
4Kとか8Kのテレビが無いとだめなのかなー。

can you explain to me why? i mean how did the ptsd change him that way
I guess it's caused by the intense amount of shouting and screaming that he heard during the wat that makes him always alerted even to the littlest of things

I really love the design and sound effects of Penelope.
Animation, along with game development are probably the 2 most complicated and time consuming and difficult things to do in the creative industry
And also the worst played for their hours
Live action movies are more time consuming as you have to make props and sets. In animation you just draw everything or in 3d model it.
sometimes game development also includes animation so .. double the difficulty I guess

I like how they blend in 3D bg render with 2D animation. It gives it HD texture vibe.

When it's this level, no need for a live action remake- this is peak anime
These techniques have been around for a while. It's just that technology has gotten better that it has become more effective and less costly.

The Night Scene at Davao is always blew my mind everytime I see it
Seriously... I couldn't believe how incredibly refined the animation in this movie was, but that sequence in-particular was *staggering*. It literally feels like they skipped a generation in animation and took us right to the 2030s.
The post process edit is so satisfying to watch.
Did you notice that every time Hathaway tries to take a drink, something important happens.

One thing Gundam really needs now is smoother animations to sell us these big flying robots fighting and maneuvering on earth and space, ground and mid-air.
Damn, imagine if we had Barbatos fighting like a rabid savage in the smoother animation of Hathaway while also having the scale of a 10-story robot.

The wipes were a bit too often when it's like 3 or 4 of them for each shot. Bordering on becoming almost flickers.
But it does make me wonder. One of the things I really miss in the todays world of streaming is the supplemental materials that we usually get with BluRays and dvd's. And complete animatics were one of those things that regularly appear in these physical releases. So. Could it be possible to get more of that in Netflix? I mean, if they can create full on Choose Your Own Adventure films... then having switchable video-streams should be comparably trivial.

I never heard of Hathaway till I ran into the movie. Too much was crammed in there and it wasn't good but had massive potential.
it's gonna be a trilogy, so that should be enough, they could do the same as with Unicorn Gundam, where they added some scenes to make it an anime

The amazing overall animation aside. The Xi vs Penelope part looks pretty stiff and weak (reason why im being sceptic of cgi gundam) but damn that fight in the forest is definitely one of my favorite suit battle ever

Not gonna lie, in term of story pacing, this movie adaptation doesn't do justice for the souce (Novel). But, it's still binge-watching movie. Can't wait for the 2nd & 3rd film!!
How much important details were cut out? Does it affect the depth of the characters and story that badly?
The thing is there are some changes that requested by Tomino himself, i'm not sure which part they changed for this adaptation but he does ask the crew to do that.
The second movie will have more changes from the Novel.
I find the novel more tedious TBH. Also, you can pace yourself when reading a novel, but a movie have to adapt all the event & sequences.
