Your art’s so dynamic and emotional, and Bellos’s last line gave me chills. Honestly, Hunter deserves a one-on-one confrontation with Bellos more than any of them. He was a painfully personal part of Hunter’s isolated life.
Honestly, Belos is kinda sad, because he never grew up. Not really. The profession he devoted his life to didn't fucking help either. He's actually pretty comparable to the Collector in that way, it's just that Belos was never willing to listen to anyone else.
kinda like how when Luz first got to the boiling isles she saw a magical place but over time her version of it fell away and she saw the truth of it, Phillip never saw the truth of the boiling isles
While something like this isn’t really necessary for Belos to be a good villain. It would’ve made him a compelling one, it makes him out to be less of an ego maniac hellbent on being the hero and slightly more of a homesick man wanting and wishing for things for that he can no longer have for it is now in the distant pass either left behind or destroyed by his own hands. I love the angle of Belos being a deranged zealous but I wished they expanded upon it a bit further
@Anh Thai I agree. Given what we saw is his mind, along with how he had that hallucination of Caleb and the previous Golden Guards, I felt that there was a lot left to explore about Belos’s character. That deep down, he was struggling with his own sense of right and wrong. Convincing himself that everything he did was for a noble cause. A tired and broken man who spent hundreds of years trying to run from his own inner demons. That would’ve been a great way to end his character.
@@kaizerhall3138 The interpretation here makes it clearer to the Audience that he wants to stop, he’s tired of everything and everyone, but he can’t because his misguided conviction drives him forwards, selfishly believing that he’s doing the right thing because if he didn’t. What is there left for him? Aside from *maybe* hunter. Every relationship he has is shrouded in deceit and manipulation. His followers worship him and his foes despise him, they all see Emperor Belos the tyrant and lord, not Philip Wittebane the man. This is why I much prefer this version. Instead of going out bitter, clawing screaming, attempting to drag his killer down to the pits of despair and suffering before being stomped on like an insignificant bug, the antithesis of what he wanted. This version of him went out quietly. He almost did what his cannon self did, attempting to drag Hunter down with him, but he didn’t. He vents his trauma, his frustration with everything, and gives up. He stops running from death, it looks as though some sort of weight has been lifted from his shoulders, and he dies. He dies not the monster Belos, he dies the man Philip. He dies not surrounded by those who hate and those who are apathetic, instead he is mourned in the arms of the only one who cares for him, and he dies loved. I know in the cannon that it’s what Belos deserves for horrors he has committed. But this ending humanized him more than any interaction we’ve seen of him in the series so far and for that I prefer it over the cannon one a thousand times over.
Why id so one talking about how this liteally oredicted Philip's death by the boiling rain? Also, I love your Philip interpretation, it really should have ended like this.
THIS IS WHAT I WANTED IN THE FINALE 🙌 I’m very content with what we did get ofc I understand he’s pretty much unredeemable and it was intended to stay that way, but I’m a sucker for a villain with a tragic backstory and killing him off like this would have been much more emotional/conflicting for me I definitely would have preferred this
The voice over was amazing but i watched it right after few british memes and i was amazed and cracking at the same time, that while Hunter shivers in terror, Belos lets out a long british poem on him or smth I AM SORRY
What makes this comic/dub interesting is that Belos had all the ingredients in his character to BE this in Canon... But wasn't. He refused to have even this much self-awareness; not just because he couldn't reconcile his image as a martyr with the reality of what he was doing, but because he HAD to be this transcendental paragon of (18th Century Puritanical Christian) Righteousness that even something as mundane as brotherly love was no longer glorious enough. Murdering Caleb, committing genocide... They HAD to have an immortal, divine, UNASSAILABLE counterweight to ensure that he would always, ALWAYS be a hero. The last thing he could accept was being just an angry, scared man who killed the person he loved the most for choosing to also love an "evil, satanic" witch.
@@PinetreeVillainYou know, “His Truth” could also refer to Belos. If we apply the name only with the context of this scene, it can come across that the truth is in reference to what Belos believes, as in, everything he says during this comic/animatic.

thats better tha the actual show
Honestly, I was kinda hoping that something like this would be what his final moments would have been like at the end of the series.
same
If belos did this in actual cannon I’d actually feel bad for him

Sometimes i look back and think that this would be far more creepier than what we got
it's almost poetic. the end song makes it even better.
Why is this not popular??? It’s almost as if I were watching the actual show!

Wow this is poetic and powerful... I felt some emotion stear inside that I cannot put a finger on
I love au’s when below is good to Hunter
1:56 So, has anyone noticed that the way Belos is sprawled out at this moment looks pretty similar to the Titan’s skeleton?
This was honestly my favorite piece of fanart from the owl house holy cow it’s incredible
I know it’s not canon but it would work in an au 😭

Why did u suddenly feel bad for belos?
Crying.
is the "His" in "the only truth was His" referring to "God?"
Yes it is!

Im more scared who this "he" is Belos keeps talking about?... is it Caleb?
yes
I think "he" is referring to god.
When he said "Don't leave me." I was about to get the canister and matches 'cause clearly a good burning or three are in order.
Could I do dub of this?

Who is caleb
Caleb is the name of Philip Wittebane’s brother!

Everyone else crying and this person being apathetic to the pain.
