Val Gardena mini tour, EMTB

A ride around the main valley, starting from Ortisei. Climbing up a small road on the northern flank of the valley and heading for St Jakob church but I took a wrong turn and was on a steep footpath, hence some walking with the bike. After the church the trail led around the west of the next valley leading up to Col Raiser. This is the entry to the Puez Odle nature park, a spectacular area surrounded by mountains. The trail then turns into a long descent, first to the Firenze hut then onto the Juac hut on the east side of the valley. The track swings to the east and enters Vallunga, the valley just to the NE of Selva. From here there is a long easy descent on mainly cycle tracks back to Ortisei but as the weather seemed to be holding I decided to explore the southern side of the main valley by heading up through La Selva to Monte Pana. Getting closer to Sassolungo the skies were beginning to darken and the first signs of rain appeared, so I started the descent into the Jender valley. After many switchbacks the trail became tarmac and there was a fast descent back into Ortisei. A superb ride with amazing scenery and wildflowers. See the map at the end of the video.

I had no idea the brakes are reversed on continental bicycles ! All motorbikes have the front brake on the right. I was telling my Polish friends their brakes were dangerous as someone had reversed the brake levers !😂
