I’m a writer, and sometimes I come to liminal space pictures for inspiration - no, I don’t just copy the photos and turn it into words, I look at these pictures and it feuls my imagination.
Just from all these photos, I bet you could force a large Backrooms like story that connects all these photos somehow.
@@tim_the_traveler I’ve though of writing a book where the main character has a strange life and sometimes in dreams they’ll slip into liminal spaces or something cool like that. Thanks for the idea :)
My favorite kinds of writers! :)
@@pigtailsandteddybears thank you SO much. You don’t how much this inspires me and motivates me to keep writing
@@bear2325 Yay!!! Whenever you publish your work, I expect an autograph! :) Just remember to never give up, this world needs minds like yours. (Eeeek, forgot to say you're welcome!)
The fact that I can smell some of these and feel the slightly-too-cold air conditioning…the human brain is weird
The thumbnail image that's also in 29:09 is actually from my hometown in Texas! It's called Jump 'N Land and it was a party place that opened in 2006. If you search it up, you'll be able to see all of the cool attractions the place had inside and the decoration hits you with nostalgia. Unfortunately they announced a few days ago that they are permanently shutting down. :(
Same just took some shots of it today in the mall very eerie now that it’s abandoned
As a person from the UK this is quite interesting.
@@spirithalloweenhaunter3859 It’s abandoned right now? Both interesting and eerie!
@@GabrielViana-mg3vh sure is it’s because it’s in a dead mall and I guess it didn’t get enough customers!!!
Hey not all is lost. While I live in New York, I actually spotted the same Pelican ride thing from the image! It has been at an Ice Cream place for a while, now appearing to be broken down and in the Funplex Funpark’s trash right next to the Ice Cream place. Tbh I’m kinda thinking bout asking if I could take it home, problem being I got nowhere to put the thing XD
Wow......gives me a 2000-2008 "kind-of-vibe" when I see these photos. The nostalgia is real

I miss 2001-2004 😢.
14:53 Definitely the most familiar for me, gives me the memory of waking up as a 4/3 year-old back in 2005 late at night and using the restroom while everything is incredibly dark and my family's still sleeping.

I think the real magic of liminal space images is the feeling that you are in someone's memories
How tf you know how I was feeling
There's just something about 1980s-early 2000s interior design that really does it for me.
Worst of all, most of these places actually exist, and people were there to take the picture.
These places definitely give me a melancholy nostalgia, a strange feeling that I can't explain in words.
Some photos may be AI generated but I agree. It makes you feel nostalgic over a memory you don't remember or that never happened.
Me too.
@@hannahbg1852 perfectly said.

1:16 "Why don't you want to sleep at Grandma's house tonight?" Grandmas house:
Having this little bed right up against the window with it being super black-dark outside would make me feel so uneasy. I'd never sleep I'd be staring at this window waiting for something freaky to be looking at me from the dark. Put some freaking blinds up grandma!
29:31 WOW I had a dream about that place once. I was being chased by something and I ran around the house on the left to the wooden steps of the small back porch.
It's so weird seeing it in a picture, I had this dream many years ago.
That's the wierd part about liminal spaces, often times we see these place in our dreams!
It's crazy. The backyard was also creepy. The house had these very bright lights attached kind of where the gutter is and it would shine light onto the backyard like a search light. Creating a sort of light gradient from the house leading into the pitch black woods.
It’s the hood
11:11 seems like it was pulled from the deepest pit of my memories, It looks identical to a place I went a decade ago to watch a small-time sports game with my cousins
I've been there too
Oh hell no, that looks just like my middle schools gate area blocking the way to the basketball court, same gate position bleachers even the tree. Yet it isn't....
Mom I think I've seen enough liminal spaces....
The baseball diamond, the bleachers, the two sheds also line up with an area near me.
I like how it's a backroom field and when ominous music plays that has melancholic tones to it.
I love these so much. Even though they creep me out a little. I just love the nostalgic dreamlike mystery.
Well i like how colorful all of these places are
I would rather go to these places

6:21 I have been to that mall, it is located in Ohio and it is known as the Forest Fair mall.

For most of these the scariest thing to me is that *no one is there*
Or that's just what they want us to think...
There Might Be Someone In One Of The Photos... Just Look Closer...
Actually. You're Not Afraid Of No One Being There. You're Actually Afraid If Someone Is Actually There
Beautiful video! I'm trying to re-live my lost memories.
Thanks! Early 2000's was my favorite time, it has a beautiful eeriness to it when you look back to it
@@MechaVillager Yes, I agree!
I was never a very social person, even when I was younger, so I didn't go to a lot of places like this. But I *did* see them in my dreams for some reason. Videos like this are so cool because it gives me an opportunity to see a real-life projection of my dreams, so to speak.
Looking at these images has helped me come to the realization that even places that we tend to think of as safe or mundane like a school corridor, mall court, or even play place can take on sinister or unsettling vibes when completely abandoned or at night

This one hits hard. When I was a kid I always wanted to hang around with the adults, not the kids. We played pool a lot, and this image resembles it exactly.
I hate Adulthood so much.
bruh
It’s funny to me how music changes everything about pictures and scenes. As a musician I find it fascinating. When you watch comps with a lot of these same images but the music is sad or nostalgic, you feel nostalgic your self and find comfort or sadness in those images. But when the music is atonal or unnerving, you feel discomfort from the same images, almost like “Yeah this image is familiar but something is wrong, something is lurking in every image and you can’t see it”.
The feelings are strange yet comforting!
5:38 Totally gives me 80s vibes! This really reminds me of Starcourt Mall!
YESSS I LOVED HOW PRETTY STARCOURT LOOKED IN ST! I genuinely wish to go to an authentic 80s mall at some point.

Old rickety bed with no blanket next to a window to the void? Count me in!
26:05 as soon as I saw this my head felt like my skin got stretch too the back as if I’ve stood here a million times n sit n watchec
The fact that some of them have that authentic low quality 90s look is what really seals the deal.
It’s so weird how we never usually take into account of transitioning places such as hallways or streets, these are places we are not used to seeing with no people at all, especially the kid theme like spaces, it’s a little bonechilling in fact, like.. I know I’ve been there, but I just have no clue when. I honestly like watching because it gives me a odd reminder to do good and love my family, otherwise I could live in a world like this, probably paranoid at every turn, corner, and step, realizing that there’s nothing I can do. Yikes man
I wouldn't mind ending up in these liminal spaces. I find these to be calming and relaxing.

22:49 I had a dream in this area only it was a HUGE mall with, and bunch of cars and military vehicles cramped into the malls walls it was like a post apocalypse world I was in, but nothing was really teared down it just looked old and abandoned. But it didn't end there I was chasing someone in this mall and for someone primary and old Hispanic lady who was running away with my little infant sister. While chasing her I found a Revolver and begin trying to shoot her but couldn't since she had my sis. After chasing her which felt like forever, she was cornered she pleaded for me not to kill her as I aimed the gun at her I yelled at her to let my sis go and she did I grabbed her and laid her down on a rug as she hid me being confused, I went to go grab her to get out of here, but she wouldn't then I realized why. The lady was changing into something I didn't get a good look at her but all she keep saying was "IM GOD" again and again without a moment hesitation I aimed the gun cocked it and shot her point blank in the head her blood and brain matter splatter all over the wall with a bit of it on my face but she didn't die she was still alive mutter the same words "IM GOD" filled with rage I shot again and again and stomped her repeatedly but also me stating "NO! I. AM. GOD." after I was done killing her, I went over to my sister relived, we were going to get out of here, I picked her up and held her by my side my knowing this dream is going to end, all around me was a light swallowing everything the dream was ending, I held my sis crying knowing I succeeded. This dream was a dream that I will remember forever because instead of me being scared, terrified and defenseless I was instead the Hero of this dream something that never happens to me often facing my fears. It felt good being the good guy for once.

4:39 it's kinda hilarious when there's an open toilet in a hall with ominous music playing in the background. But then who cares when there's nobody around to see you pee
13:17 that was the old Bonkers in Columbia Mo before the renovated
I think what creeps me out is in nightmares or just regular dreams, I find myself in half of the places here. It's a serious case of deja vu and it's downright creepy how accurate many of these are to what I've seen. It's almost like somewhere in the universe, someone secretly takes a photo of places like this and it enters your brain without your knowledge. Your dream could take place in any of these and even before viewing this video, you've probably visited half of these places. The moment I started watching this video, I said "That was in my dream in seventh grade!" Now that I'm older, it's more terrifying.
At 11:51, that picture took place in one of my nightmares and the next picture of the mall filled with neon lights was also there in my nightmare. I woke up in that room with tables and walked aimlessly around the hall while I heard someone else walking around the ominous space as well, but I could never see who it was. But every five seconds, I would hear a "You're going to get it" in a woman's voice and I would hear running towards me but no matter where I turned, I could never see anyone. Each room with neon lights was there and I just ran through them with a woman growling behind me until I woke up.
I love the pictures, 0:18 I feel like I've dreamed of being there before
Imagine there was a jumpscare between one of these clips, my soul would litterly leave me.

let's be real. these pictures are unnerving not because we think we are alone, it's the constant fear that we are *not* alone.
YES
No they’re unnerving because being born in 1986 I feel like I’ve seen half of these places with my own eyes. I don’t care about the fact that no one is there
No, I just am afraid that I am alone. They have nothing in them. No sign of life at all. No source of entertainment. Nothing to do but go mad.
*I was supposed to be alone.*
I had a radio-sized locator device that measured the presence of lifeforms in the entire... location... area... place... wherever I was. I switched on the device, and it read the same as when I'd arrived:
Lifeforms: 1
I was the only lifeform, and I knew because the locator showed my current position. I found solace in knowing that I was the only lifeform here.
... I *was* the only lifeform here.
...right...?
The more I walked through the mysterious, unknown-yet-familiar place, the more this feeling began to dwindle, the more the thought recessed. I could've sworn I saw something out of my peripherals. Once. Twice.
Thrice.
Someone-or... some-*thing* was there. But that couldn't be... I was certain I was the only lifeform here. I checked the locator once more, and it read the same.
Lifeforms: 1
It wasn't until I was about to switch the device off that I felt a presence watching me... from somewhere. That was when I noticed it: on my device, the other switch, and its function.
Lifeform mode -> Entity mode
I flicked the switch, and after the locator recalibrated, my blood ran a cold shiver down my spine when I saw what the device read:
Entities: 2
I could *feel* the presence grin.
It’s weird how some of these images triggered real memories I forgot I had

It’s always the fact that I feel like they’re memories more than pictures. I was born in 1986 and most of these are throughout my lifetime.
