- In this video, I am Buffalo Fishing & Carp Fishing with my dad & brother. This is part 2 of our fishing trip. We are fishing at Lake Wright Patman Spillway! I am using my homemade dough-bait recipe. I couldn't just make this one video. So hopefully you enjoy Parts 1 and 2. If you want to Catch Buffalo & Carp, like this video! Buffalo & carp are very fun to fish for, they both have a little different fight, but they are both excellent to fish for sport! I am definitely planning to make more buffalo fishing videos in the future. Since buffalo can be hard to catch, I am going to make a "Tips & Tricks" video for catching buffalo & carp! Ya'll be on the lookout for this video!

Should do a catch & cook on them
Buffalo is the number one commercially fresh water fish in the world. So yeah. They are pretty friggin good to eat. Main thing is to bleed them well before or just after killing them. Same with carp. Then leave them in the water on your stringer or in your live well for at least ten minutes. Then directly on ice. You can eat their ribs, fillets, and the top portion with all the tiny hair bones throughout. Either grind it up like hamburger. Then make patties and the bones with become soft. Or you can put that same meat in a pressure cooker for about twenty minutes on high pressure and the bones will all but desolve and then you can easily break up the meat with a fork and add an egg , some breading of your choice and a little flour and seasonings and make croquettes. ( Be careful when gutting the fish not to break open their gallbladder as this will ruin any meat it leak's on. A clumsy gutting has been the main cause of people saying buffalo and carp are no good to eat. )
And if you're lucky enough to get a female full of eggs you can remove the two large egg sacks , clean them well then brine them overnight in salted water, I do the same for the meat as well. Then the next day just rinse them off well again making sure you don't see anymore blood on anything. ( BTW , cut off any of the dark colored reddish brown line of meat you find on any part of the fish. Has a very strong taste.
Their heads are also a great source of bone free meat. Fry or boil if making a chowder. Just remember to remove the gills as they are full of that fishy tasting blood you don't want. I like to cut the head in half long ways. Makes it much easier to deal with and cooks much faster. Some folks even eat the eyeballs. But not me.
