    - Symphonies of Wind Instruments is a concert work written by Igor Stravinsky in 1920, for an ensemble of woodwind and brass instruments. The piece is in one movement, lasting about 9 minutes. It is dedicated to the memory of Claude Debussy, who died in 1918, and was premiered in London on 10 June 1921, conducted by Serge Koussevitzky.
    - William Byrd Suite is one of 400 pieces completed by the Gordon Jacob. It was composed in 1923 to honor the 300th anniversary of Byrd’s death (c.1623). A pupil of Thomas Tallis, William Byrd excelled at writing secular and sacred polyphonic choral and keyboard music in the 16th and 17th centuries. Jacob chose six pieces to honor Byrd. Originally scored for orchestra, Jacob was asked by conductor Adrian Boult to score the work for massed military bands at the British Empire Exhibition in Wembley Stadium on May 29, 1924.

    - The Gumsuckers March was sketched for wind band in the late 1930s but not finished until the summer of 1942. The first theme was composed by Grainger at Hill Hall, Epping, England, around 1911, and the second theme dates from 1905. The complete march was worked out in the summer of 1914 at Evergood Cottage, Goudhurst, Kent, England, and scored for orchestra late that year in New York. Grainger used what he called "tone-clashfulness" (writing of independent harmonies for various families of instruments, creating moments of dissonance). The lyric theme from this march can also be found in his Colonial Song and Australian Up-Country Tune. The second theme contains motives from The Widow's Party March.

    - Nocturne is a chorale for strings conceived on a cold, winter night. Lyrical and reflective, the music carries a strong sense of romanticism, and strives to convey a sense of spiritual bliss. The piece was originally written as a middle movement of my first string quartet. (Zhou Tian)
    - Paris Sketches was specially commissioned by the BASBWE Consortium to meet the requirements of bands of mixed ability and uncertain attendance, but making no artistic compromises. Poetic, humorous, wistful and thrilling, its four movements vividly evoke the spirit -- and some of the composers -- associated with the great city.
