Waski, one of your parker 21 with gold clip is a parker 21 super with a cap from 21 deluxe.
21super has 51 like structure. so you can fit 51's gold nib.
The pen which you call as 21 super is the 21 Mark.2.
It has a hybrid type of hooded nib which used for 21 Mk.1, Mk.2, and the late model of parker parkette.
The plastic part of Parker 21 prone to crack easily and has a issue of heat shrinkage.
You're right. My notes have it right, so I must have read it backwards in the video. I'm going to pin your comment so the correction is there.
@@WaskiSquirrel If you can get one of NOS 21 super, than get it. I recommend "Super" cause it's a final and well modified model among all of it's models.
I heard that in the commercial at that time says that they used X100 plastic so new 21 super won't crack, but like proofs of users, it still crack easily and chips easily.
But still, they are great writer. I use one of my 21 super as a EDC pen.
P.S By the way, I saw NOS 21 super at PSP.
In my opinion, they are the latest 21 super, which has plastic feed and 45 like finial.
Thank you. I will look for one and check that retailer. I'm pleased with these two pens.
Also, there will be a video correction come up some time this evening. Thank you for fact checking me!
Good review. Personally I prefer the Parker 45 to the 21. Can be snagged at a great price. Generally doesn't need more than a flushing and the nibs work great. Thanks for showing us the 21. A great American pen that is a great writer. From an age when people bought pens to write with them.
I agree: the 45 is better. But it is a good pen. I'm glad you enjoyed!
I have a NOS Parker 21 “Special” that was never inked. The body is battleship gray & was part of a pen & pencil set. The cap has 21 on it as does the side of the metal inkwell. My clip is the standard arrow & my nib appears to be silver color, so I assume it’s steel. The box says 21 “Super” Medium. The box is gold with the name “Parker” written in cursive, surrounded by what looks like a cloud. I’m guessing mine is early 1960s... How can I tell for sure?
I only have the one, so I'm no expert. It's also possible that parts, such as the case, were switched previously.
There may be a date code on the pen. And, here is the reference I used to figure out the approximate date of mine:

Cool-lookingl nib on the Super 21.
Yes, both very nice pens.
Hey there
Love your drawing at the end. Almost exactly like the image seen in grays anatomy on the large intestine!
Anyway.... your descriptions of the models were a bit off... I may not remember this correctly in terms of the names, but the pens with the small tubular nib and opening that look like the 51 are either the 41 or the 21 deluxe. The larger opening and more exposed non-tubular nib is the standard 21.
The cap on my pen may not have left the factory that way. Many pens that I have gotten over the last 30 years may be “marriages” where I use a cap from a pen that has a broken barrel and transplant it to one that is in good shape. I usually make them “correct” but in pens such as these they could fit perfectly well but be wrong from the purist’s point of view.
One last thing...the standard (larger non tubular nib) 21 was made of a plastic that is prone to cracking. Many “shells” or the conical sections will develop cracks at the threaded end or chips at the nib end. They are great pens if you find one without a crack! Other than flushing out the old ink you shouldn’t have to take them apart or replace a sac. They should be good to go.
You're right. I pinned T-72BA's comment. He describes my error thoroughly. I'm annoyed with myself because I didn't even read my notes correctly and then let it get into video
Waski i have got a "21" and it got me thinking as to how many different variants of the said pen were there because mine has got the same tube nib as the "51" but it is made of some sort of alloy, and with the arrow clip. The overall colour of the pen is a weird but beautiful teal greyish green. When i purchased mine i don't recollect whether it stated which MK it was so after seeing your two example i will assume mine is the MK1. Thanks for showing us your two variants of the Parker "21" so i know now how mine differs.
Check out the comments by Pier Gustafson and T-72BA. I made a mistake in the video on identification. I'm going to do a corrected video when I get home from work. You probably have a Super, especially with the arrow clip.
Thanks you Jason for the excellent review. I don't own a 21, although i do own other vintage Parkers, so i think ill have to look at picking one up based on your review.
It's a very nice pen, and an inexpensive vintage model.
I had two versions of the 21. One in burgundy and the other in green. The green one has the larger feed and trough clip. The burgundy had an arrow clip and smaller feed. I gave away the burgundy but I accidentally switched the caps because I liked the arrow clip more on my green pen. Now I have a green 21 with the incorrect cap. 🤔 I still keep it because it reminds me of a pen my grandfather gave me but I lost when we moved from California to Texas.
Some of my commenters suggested there may be cap switching on one or both of mine as well. It happens with pens.
That Quink Blue Black is more blue than I have ever seen Quink Blue Black ever being… I always see it as a very green dark blue… I really like the color I see in your review.
I agree that it usually looks more green. It may be the camera.
I think Parker have recently changed the formulation of the blue black. How recently I am not sure.
@@Nojii1 In what way did they reformulate?
@@WaskiSquirrel Did it look more green in person?
I love your ink stained fingers!
Thanks! A common hazard in this hobby!
@@WaskiSquirrel Thanks for the link to my site!
In my opinion, the super 21has a clip similar to the Parker 45.
It doesn't have the arrow design like my 45, but I also know there were a few different clips on the 45.
@@WaskiSquirrelright, sir. Thank you.
Only quink is worthy for this pen :)
Only the best for my vintage Parkers!
So is any Waterman ink. Ideal for vintage pens. I like them better than any Parker Quink.
Yay! Noodler's Baystate Blue on your fingers? :-)
Private Reserve Tanzanite. I fought the bottle and the bottle won!
Lol! That was some fight! Many thanks for this and all the other videos!
Waski, I don't think yours is a Super "21" since no Super "21" had the trough clip cap, both of the Super "21" cap variations had feather arrow clip. The nib and feed also does not match that of the Super "21"
You're right. I got it wrong when I read my notes. There may also have been some cap switching from what some of the other commenters have said.
Thank you, very interesting comparison.
Thanks! It was a nice bonus to get Pier Gustafson's pen as a point of comparison.
I will be glad if you wouldn't speed up the writing sample next time.
I had to compromise there. Some like it sped up, especially with long quotes, and some like it at regular speed. So I made sure there is some writing at both speeds.
FYI: The text of the quote can be found in the notes under the video.
I got curious about the quotation you wrote, so I went to wikiquote to read its source and holy crap! Now I have to read all of "The Profits of Religion", just letting you know that you aided in the corruption of a naive mind ;-)
When I found this quote, I added the same book to my reading list.
I like it.
Thank you!
