As a 10 year old Liverpool fan I was gutted but the next day even though we lost we went to the home coming. 53 years later I appreciate what a hard fought final this was. Arsenal fans on a high from winning the league on the Monday. Liverpool fans buoyed by seeing a new team emerge. Both teams and fans did their clubs proud. Arsenal had to work hard for their double and they deserved their victory. Although disappointed I knew Liverpool would have their time as the decade wore on. A great sporting occasion.

The atmosphere is electric, I love the old Wembley the pitch definitely looks a lot bigger than today's Wembley.

People bang on about how much better modern football is. And in some ways it is. But how many modern FA Cup finals are as good as this?
The football of the 21st Century is an hybrid of the true game of over 100 years. The pitch & ball have changed the game for the worse & there's very little midfield battles tackling is non existent.
In the day when the cup final was on tv from morning to evening. The first cup final I watched in full. A great game and very sporting from both teams.I was gutted as a Liverpool fan but Arsenal were a very good team and Champions. Even though Liverpool had a lot of success, this was the beginning of that great era.
I was 10 at the time but even though we lost I went to the homecoming next day. That homecoming was televised late in the evening. A lot of games are on TV but they lack quality of this classic cup final.

Talk before the game was Liverpool would have an advantage with their fans.
The Arsenal fans drowned them out all through the game, what a day. What a week. Tottenham on Monday, then this.
My voice was gone by the time we went down the west end and partied all night. Many Liverpool fans were out on the town also, celebrating getting to the final. They were excellent. No bother.
No cheating, diving or victims of sniper shots. Tommy Smith and Storey, tough but fair-ish🙂
All i heard watching this game back was brian moore saying every few mins the Arsenal the arsenal was he a Arsenal fan i wonder 😄

Attendance for the 1971 FA Cup Final was a sellout crowd of 100,000 fans.
Believe Liverpool played in brand new shirts which became increasingly unbearable to wear the longer the match went on. They didn't make the same mistake in subsequent cup finals
