This was the most serious New Rule I have seen. Bill doesn’t go for his usual jabs and punchlines. Even the audience was relatively quiet. Comedians do bits, Bills reminded me of George Carlin finishing a show. He spoke the cold hearted truth. He had something more than a punchline to get across. Comedy is just the on ramp to the truth.

It's called the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, and it won't require a constitutional amendment to render the electoral college completely moot.

The Oathkeepers are "ex" military + police who pretend to be about ensuring honest voting: of course, they only show up to key Democrat polling stations (usually black), to intimidate people *inside* _ and nobody stops them. (Remember all those black Obama voters in Hillary Clinton's "safe states" who suddenly didn't show up + handed them to Trump?)
If it was any other country, the opposition party would be screaming their heads off + the UN would be denouncing it as not a "free and fair" election.

And that's before I even get into the fact that, as incumbent President, if he gives an order to the military, police or intelligence services, enough of them will obey. Or putting it another way, *not* enough of them will be organised *against* him: in fact, they will probably think that they don't have the Constitutional right.

Trump insulted a lot of people and principles servicemembers claim they hold dear. But he also did that before election (e.g. demeaning prisonders of war), and still got a lot of votes from them. Militaires tend to attract a lot of conservative and further right people. I wouldn't bet on them being unified against Trump. Remember, those are the same people who thought an experienced politican (whom they also blamed for inaction) would drag them into more wars, but the loudmouth amateur moron with the short temper keep them out of wars.

If he loses come January 20 Trump no longer has presidential powers, the secret service will have him removed. Even the heads of departments won't be able to overcome thousands of people who no longer will listen to and work with Trump trying to stay. Leaders who do that either have earned loyalty from the many or they have the power to kill/lock up their political rivals. Trump not only doesn't have that power, we've already seen the military defy him when they can. You think all of these people are going to suddenly start listening to someone they obviously can't stand? Trump's power is compliant supporters, which are in the minority, and the powers the presidency bestows upon him. Without the powers of the presidency he has nothing, not the loyalty of the people in the agencies he works for, he no longer has the law, he mostly has a bunch of old people who will be upset their guy didn't win. What will Democrats do for January 20th? Bring all of their people to the inauguration as their size will overwhelm anything Trump will do and the secret service will honor their job responsibilities.

@drew pedersen Local governments have scaling permit fees for special events. The permit fee is supposed to cover the cost of any additional security that may need to be provided to a special event. For instance, my county has a fee of $1200 per day per 5000 attendants. These fees have been paid by Trump's campaign. The estimation of close to $400,000 dollars unpaid, are exaggerated and/or hidden costs that apply to the city that no concert or other big event pays.
@drew pedersen $1,200/5000 people means that a 100,000 people means that an event would cost $24,000 to the Trump campaign, not the $400,000 that some estimates put the amount owed at.

Wasn't there a Military Times poll taken recently that showed his support among active service members was significantly lower then he was making it out to be? I don't think many service personnel appreciate when he claims they'd commit war crimes on his behalf or when he undermines the justice system in the military by pardoning guys who have committed war crimes.

Luckily if he's not the POTUS they'll be able to. The peaceful transfer of power during the inauguration is just a formality. The next POTUS can be sworn in by the chief justice pretty much anywhere, like what happened with LBJ after the Kennedy assassination. Once that happens, whether he likes it or not, Trump is no longer the POTUS and if he refuses to leave the WH, then the US Marshalls or some other federal police service, will go in and remove him.

Who will drag him out? Congress is divided. The Supreme Court is Republican. The head of the Executive Branch, which has many police agencies, is controlled by Trump and AG Barr. It would have to be state police and then you have a 2nd Civil War since his supporters will protect the White House.
