If I had a band for listening to forever, this would be it...
I honestly cannot stop listening to this piece, Kenny Werner knew what he wrote 30 years ago. Greg Newman was absolutely phenomenal on the flugelhorn, and you can tell he had a blast playing this piece! What I’d do to see them at UNT or at UTD before I graduate!
andrew I agree - I would have loved all the trumpet section to have switched to flugels for the ensemble here, and a little more prominence to the French horn, because the piece is so mellow, but it was a fantastic performance anyway. Greg Newman, like Austin Ford and Josh Kaufmann from the same band (though not in this line-up) are three names I am sure will have great careers, if there is any justice in the word.
Smooooooooth and oh so together.
This is fantastic ... writing, arrangement, soloists, section work ....this is so, so so, beautiful. I am mesmerized by it all!!!
Thank you Will for such an elegant tenor solo. G'day from the land down under!
That tenor solo was fireeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Awesome work.
Does anyone know what became of Will Nathman (tenor sax) in this recording. Love his tone, ideas, etc. Would like to hear more of him.
Beautiful composition, solos, and ensemble playing!

Nice performance, but the trumpet solo killed it.... Sorry... Maybe he was to nervous?
Nope, I was fine actually.
;-)
@@jaykay2003 he sounded great. And "killed it" means he did a really good job. He killed it
I've heard quite a few flawed, nervous trumpet solos in my time; that was not one of them.
@@nolanmccafferty9932 I thought the flugelhorn solo was first rate - mellow, inventive and totally suiting the mood of the piece - I am really glad that more of us are supportive than the original poster
