Written as a direct message to Lindsay Buckingham. They entered the band as a couple and were breaking up when this album was being recorded. John and Christine McVie's marriage was ending at the same time. Two couples breaking up at the same time in the same band.

Exactly, her response to Lindsey’s “Go Your Own Way” song on the same album about their breakup. Pretty bada** to write a song dogging your ex and he is on stage playing lead guitar and singing backup while you sing it every night.

The iconic Stevie Nicks on vocals with Christine McVie coming in with the harmony. You need to get into Stevie’s catalog and more Fleetwood Mac. The bass is coming from John McVie, Christine’s ex-husband. You got Lindsey Buckingham on lead guitar and the beat is being kept by Mr Mick Fleetwood. One of the top 5 best drummers of all time; in my book, anyway. Welcome to the rabbit hole.

Hey, Silas! I’m so glad you’re doing this album. In my opinion, it’s one of the top 5 best albums, top to bottom, it’s stacked. I actually did a review of this album in a video on my channel a few years ago, and just talked about how fantastic it is. It is, in my opinion, the quintessential “break-up” album, due to all the internal turmoil the band was dealing with (during the recording of the album, it got so bad that the women in the band lived in a house separate from the men in the band). You have my favorite song off the album coming up next. I won’t spoil anything, but, man, you can’t go wrong anywhere on the album!

I also love the bass in this and what's really happening there that makes it so effective is that, other than in those short instrumental interludes where they are completely decoupled, the bass is exactly coupled with the kick drum. So what you think of as the bass is actually the bass guitar and the kick drum hitting at the same time and it's just the perfect blend. It's sparse enough that it really draws attention to itself and it contributes perfectly to the overall relaxed and almost dreamy nature of this song.
It's common in a lot of music to have the bass sometimes or all of the times, coincide with the kick, but for the reasons above, it's just so perfect here, in such a relaxed but relentless way.
One of the many things I like about Dreams is that no element of this is dramatic. All of it is fairly relaxed and pulled back, and yet like a jigsaw puzzle, it fits together so perfectly to make something where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. It really does capture the feeling of just sitting back and listening to the rain, and dreamily musing about love and loss.

A masterpiece young Silas. Stunning vocal, and such a delicious arrangement. I live downtown in the Historic District...60 gwm, BIG house alone, next door was leased by university soccer players, 18 & 19, diff crews of 4 staggered every 2 yrs, they'd pile in my house for football/spaghetti/drinks, sometimes bringing a friend from school, I'd ALWAYS tell the newbie "your choice of music" as the host, of music thru the house from the den, and make newbie feel welcome and comfy (South Carolina, we pride ourself on southern hospitality and social graces)...around that time they were always listening to The Weeknd, but that night the newbie shocked me with "my favorite song ever is 'Dreams' by Fleetwood'...I was stunned, and like one of my fav songs ever, kick your shoes off and what can I get you to drink...with Dreams drifting through the house, absolutely wonderful, there is a God. Epic tune, shocked it was a 19 yr old fav...I said "You'll go far young man".

    Lol that intro, Silas!
Yeah, Rumours is one of classic rock's greatest and most popular (and most dramatic) albums. Interviews with the band members, both video and articles, are full of crazy stories of this time for the band members.
And it is one of the best-selling albums of all time too!
Stevie Nicks does have an amazing voice! And this band could harmonize like few others! Their first album (after the addition of Lindsey and Stevie) is cool too. Stevie's song Landslide is a gem.
