I am really confused by the comments here, why are many people questioning the armament of this ship which was ordered from PT. PAL, Indonesia? In fact, the ship ordered by the Philippines is indeed a landing platform dock (LPD) type ship which has a role and function as a military and non-military operation support ship equipped with the latest technological innovation, namely the sea water reverse osmosis (SWRO) system as an alternative technology to process sea water into fresh water to meet the needs on board the ship while carrying out duties on the high seas. In Indonesia, it is usually used as a sea ambulance ship or hospital ship used by the Indonesian Navy. So of course the embedded armament only has the basic armament of a logistics and military personnel transport ship with a maximum value of 40% weaponry compared to a real warship, as well as the speed of mobility is also limited because it can comb the high seas or rivers in the archipelago. So if here people really want a warship from PT. PAL or another military shipyard from Indonesia, which numbers dozens, they can order a Frigate, Corvette or Submarine which is clearly complete with armaments from several well-known warship armament manufacturers in the world.
There are many military shipyards that can produce large and small warships in Indonesia such as PT Palindo Shipyard Marine, PT Bandar Abadi Shipyard, Karimun Anugerah Abadi and PT Citra Shipyard, and PT Batamec, PT Dok Kodja Bahari, PT Dok and Perkapalan Surabaya, PT Lundin Industry Invest, PT Tesco Indomaritim, PT Caputra Mitra Sejati, PT Infinity Global Mandiri, PT Republik Palindo, PT Steadfast Marine, etc. Why does Indonesia still mostly import warships from other developed countries such as frigates such as FREMM (Frigate European Multi-Mission) made by Fincantieri Italy, Frigate type 31 Arrayhead 140 from Rosyth Royal Dockyard Ltd (Babcock) UK which was purchased built up from the UK as many as 2 units and there is an MoU for a license which can then be manufactured domestically by PT. PAL through Transfer of Technology, as well as orders from Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding from the Netherlands, Abeking & Rasmussen Germany, all of which later made and developed their own by studying the latest developments in hull strength, sensor technology, radar & sonar technology, and compatibility with the world's most advanced weaponry.
Many PH people commented on why this ship was not equipped with anti-submarine missiles and other heavy weapons, it was really funny that they couldn't differentiate between destroyers and logistics transport ships. 😂😂😂
Hoping our AFP/PN will have many new military equipment such as destroyers (12) frigates (36), corvettes (36), offshore/onshore patrol vessels (60), patrol boats (60), fast attack crafts or MPAC (240), fast missiles craft (36), multi-role fighter aircrafts (180), Boeing P-8 Poseidon (2), attack helicopters (60), anti-submarine helicopters (36) and submarines (4), missile air defense systems, Unmanned aerial/sea vehicles, and high advance military communication systems for first line of defense and protection of our country's EEZ/territory.
