Thank heavens C.C and Sophia reunited. They were the best couple on Santa Barbara. My favorite soap couple of all time!

God they ruined this show. I'm gonna try and remember it when it was great...in the 80s.

CC really loved Sophie, but they ruined this couple since about episode 860 or so, when Pamela arrived on the scene, until the end they were not same anymore.

Absolutely. I adore this couple in 1986 and fragmentary in 1988, when they tried to glue a broken cup, but the fact is that in 1987 the fairy tale of CC's eternal love for Sophia was destroyed and never worked again. In the last episodes, they were hastily reunited to please the fans, but I don't think they would have been together if SB hadn't ended.

@@sovasb116 I think their love was special and eternal, however the writers didn't do them justice, and plugged in too many third parties, etc., still the actors had a great chemistry and there was always a lot of romantic/sexual tension between them whenever they were on, even if they weren't together, probably the writers didn't want them together too much, because they could take away the attention from Cruz and Eden, I wasn't a special fun of Cruz and Eden, except that i liked Cruz as an inspector. The ending for CC and Sophie was I believe a bit cheesy, but realistic, perhaps the point was to make it to the end, regardless of the bumpy road, so they even beat Cruz and Eden who weren't together at the end, this last part when Sophie was drugged was probably inspired by the beginning when Sophie disappeared and was in care of that crazy hypnotist Marcello, both times however, in the beginning and at the end she ends up with CC.

@@rahelhorvat1471 Yeap, however I wonder why the different writers and producers came and left, but tending to separate CC and Sophia remained unchanged. Even Dobsons separated them as soon as they returned in 1991.
And what I particularly dislike is that СС was ready to marry every woman he met and never chose Sophia, even when she was free. He broke up with his girlfriends only because they left show, but not by his will.
Angela Cassidy from these last episodes was his fiancee, CC even fought for her with Ted! Jed was inspired by new pairing (in his interview of the 2000th episode anniversary).

@@sovasb116 It's true, writers definitely picked on Sophie and CC, they did separate other couples also, but with CC and Sophie it was a constant, dramatic separations and then even more spectacular get-togethers. CC always wanted Sophie over any other woman, and we never saw CC actually marry another woman in the show, however it was Sophie who didn't want him anymore as a husband after TJ thing. She would come to visit him in the house, had an occasional sex with him, but turned down all of his numerous marriage proposals. So, when she turned him down, CC turned to other woman, convinced himself that he loved them and since he was a guy that wanted a wife, not a girlfriend he quickly proposed to them. When Sophie saw him with those other woman, she wanted him back, but didn't display it and pretended she accepted it, so that's how they spent most of the time separated. I think the best part of them was when they just reunited until Pamela, they both were committed and loyal to one another and no third parties could come between them. Later on, it was just immoral and inappropriate what they did most of the time. But, looking back, I blame CC for it, cause he rejected Sophie when Pamela arrived, didn't want to tell her the truth, thinking he is protecting her, and this is when Sophie gave up on CC, if CC told her what's going on, she would have never left him nor given up on him, on the contrary, she would have fight for him, but the writers took this bad approach, I guess.

@@rahelhorvat1471 For Sophia, the proof of CC's love would be his patient waiting while she figured out her doubts, combined with the ability to sleep alone this period. And she had reason to count on it. I mean the legend of his 15-year loneliness. While Sophia was presumed dead, CC didn't marry anyone. But as soon as she appeared alive, he couldn't live alone more than half of year and needed to be married to no matter whom. His weddings and engagements were disrupted, but poor guy was upset, and Sophia even had to console him. He didn't learn any lessons and kept doing what he wanted.
I'm not a fan of СС as a character, but it looks like a failure of the writers. They didn't connect the present with the past of Sophia, CC and Lionel. When I watched, I couldn't believe that CC was able to live alone for 15 years, Sophia and CC could live together for 10 years. Sophia and Lionel had an insane passion for each other. What everyone was talking about didn't match what everyone was seeing. Well, in 1990-91 producer Conboy tried to relive the past but it only got worse, lol.
In the Pamela's storyline another point is bad: Sophia has ceased to be one of the central characters and has receded into the background. While CC remained in the foreground. Judith really didn't like her service function around him (what she called in the interviews as "yes, CC, calm down, CC").
