OMG this is such a masterpiece! When the original came out I was 39 and busy raising 3 kids. I really never got the lyrics. Now at 62 this has a whole new meaning. Ronnie's passion and emotion in this version would make anyone cry.
Was 37 then and got the lyrics - which is why I didn't like the song: I just couldn't match the music to the lyrics, and I found it very irritating that people where just going wild to this song text. Sorry Papa Roach, but this is how the song should be interpreted. 🖤🤘

I would just like to say that i have watched over the last couple months over 100 reviews of this song, and YOU are the ONLY person who has analyzed it in the same way that i also did. Ronnie's subtle nuances he applies to his voice that enhance the meaning/power of the words he sings (in all his songs) just blows my friggin mind. Theatrical is a great description for his style. I just can't stop watching this video and watching other people responding to it. I am 63 yrs old now and have been a pro musician for over 45+ yrs and have NEVER heard a singer do what he does with his instrument. It's just absolutely amazing to me (and you too i see). He really is blazing a path for himself. I am SO happy to have found him and his band and really enjoy watching & listening him and them. It's SO refreshing to see an artist expanding the barriers that most modern genres have become boxed into.
So thank you for having the insight and and artistic instincts to hear what i'm hearing. I really enjoyed your review. KUDOS!

What a beautiful reaction, thank you so much for that. You have already found the right words for this masterpiece. Papa Roach's version never gave me so much thought. Ronnie managed to give these lyrics more meaning with his interpretation. But it's Ronnie and I've really never been disappointed by him. I love him.

I get the feeling that the end is showing that once you realize that your world is collapsing around you and that need to make changes, you can start to rebuild and go from there because at the buildings are back together and the world is starting over.

Ronnie is working his way towards a true rock opera. Every video, song and performance lately is just audition for a brilliant rock opera and God do we need it now. This performance and video are pure $$$ but thank GOD someone at his label recognizes and continues to spend the money his talent deserves. This version of the song AND the video truly makes grown men cry. Just breathtaking and raw.
I had this on at work and one of the guys came in and heard like 5 seconds of it and said, “who butchered this song?”…..boy I almost slapped him…😂 even if you don’t like this rendition, you have to give respect to the song itself. The talent and meaning of the words. Jacoby could have been feeling these thoughts but conveyed it in the only way he knew how. This is Amazing!!! I love your reactions.

You should see the video where Jacoby from PR gets the first listen. Ronnie's hands were actually shaking out of nervosity. It was very clear it meant alot to get the "approval" Ronnie have been a fan since PR started and think about this, the song is 23 years old 😮
I love how humble he was being all nervous, true talent.
Ironically it was that particular video that made me look for the official video. The respect between them was definitely refreshing to see. Jacoby's really seemed grateful for not only the respect of Ronnie asking what Jacoby thought but also how he pretty much remade the song so beautifully and gave it new life.

Wait, you learn how to scream? I've been doing harsh vocals over 15 years now and I'm telling you: that's a journey you have to experience. It's not just executing it right and sustaining and switching it. It's actually great practice for lunge capacity, breath control and pitch shifting. And I have to say, in the last chorus Ronnie's vocalised high screams are so hard to do. And not even is he remaining them, but they're actually really powerful. Absolutely mind blown by his talent. Definitely the best vocalist of our time. Keep enjoying the music and improve yourself, you can never stop learning.
I so agree, Ronnie blows my mind every time. I've never been a screamer but always wanted to have that skill in my toolbox. So I'm going to explore that journey finally ;) Where can I hear you sing?

It's shocking how much you young people really are unaware of what you are listening to, Ronnie is slapping you in the face really hard and letting you know what the song was really about, it was a person contemplating suicide, that is what you were listening to, nothing happy about that at all, now that he is awakened you to what was really being said, it should change the entire perspective on actually what you were listening to years ago.

I wasn't fan back when they started I was a fan of escape and the sound changed when he cane back and I didn't like it I just stopped listening to them for years found them again later and love everything even the old ones I didn't like back then.. but I never spoke out against them who am I to try?
