I just love how sea Turtles remember where they were born and willingly choose to have their babies in the same place. I just love how it seems like they have a concept of "home".
Nah. They are a succesful product of that area, it just makes sense nature directs them to lay eggs where a turtle survived to adulthood. If it works, dont fix it.
@@PRubin-rh4sr no, but have you seen HOW they're able to travel thousands of miles. Then return to the exact beach that they were born on?
That's how God made them that's how they know what to do

Baby lions: mom help me I'm scared.
Baby turtles: TO VALHALLA!
To victory
I've had the pleasure of seeing this 4 or five times. Leatherbacks lay eggs on the Florida coast. One time. The hatched turtles were confused as to which direction they should go and were headed toward the buildings. I used a flashlight to imitate the moonlight, as the moon was not out, and they turned around and headed into the water. About 60-80 of them.
wow! well done! I wouldn't know what to do but now after watching few youtube videos I know they need the Moon light to get to the sea...so the flashlight was brilliant little idea! Thank you
Thankyou for doing that!
one day, after you are gone, some of them might still be swimming in the ocean.
That's so smart! I probably just would have tried to pick all of them up and flick them into the ocean. Your idea is probably better
If the world had more people like you i wouldn’t mind it so bad, much respect to you !
No wonder these fellas outlive us! They're on their own from the second they hatch out.
@Tiro Mandel a small percentage actually make it to the ocean and then manage to make it to old age. Until they are large they have no protection from predators

No joke, I'm getting emotional over this. The miracle of new life does that to me.
Baby Turtle: Literally having to dig after they hatch.
Baby Human: *Pathetic Crying Noises*
This so true
The same surviving hatchlings will return to that exact same beach to lay their eggs ; D
They’ll also return to play some checkers
Rowe Magnon checkmate
As awful as humans usually are, it's heartwarming to see how we can protect these sea turtles babies and give them a better shot at life.
they literally spawn directly on D-DAY
This is honestly the cutest thing I’ve watched 🥺❤️
Turtles get born and immediately get put into war 😂
God bless these beautiful turtles. It’s a wonderful sight to snorkel or scuba dive and see them gracefully swimming nearby.
This makes me to happy. They are all so beautiful.
They’re so freaking cute
I came home from work today needing to see turtle hatchlings. I was reminded today of my father telling us siblings "we're off like a stampede of Turtles...look at 'em go!" Miss you dad!
its amazing to see how turtles know that its ocean out there
A whole bunch of teeny turtles!
I can understand wanting to document via film sea turtle hatchlings, but do NOT understand why you would be wearing a head light when the scientific literature makes clear that light (moon or sunlight) provides turtles with an orientation to get to the sea. In this video, with your headlight bearing down on them, they all seemed confused about which direction to go in to get to the sea. It seemed invasive to me.
Such precious things! I hope they continue to flourish into the future.
It makes me happy to see people help them in this dangerous period of their life.
Turtles are brave since they're baby they travel alone without mama, it's kinda sad to me, but thats nature, we're so lucky to be a human and we're responsible what happening to our surroundings.
Turtles are born: D-Day but it's opposite day
Swim well, little turtles!!
I love the way they wattle to the beach so much I love bb turtles and turtles they just so stinking cute 😭
Baby turtles gotta be one of the cutest and clumsiest animals 😂😂
Those baby sea turtles are so cute

Amazing turtles!!
Turtles are the best of all(everything in the universe).
Great-beautiful- extraordinary.
We should hire lifeguard on the beach to protect them back to ocean safely
Absolutely stunning! Thank you so much BBC for this!
Idc I'd cheat and upset the eco system. I'd scare the birds away and help them get to shore. Natural, psht. I'm born on earth too and naturally decided to naturally select and love baby turtles for cuteness. Thus saved them. Good call evolution
those turtles are adorable 😍
All that sand in the eye must suck :D
Absolutely amazing. I would loved to have been there. Still great to watch. TY
SO CUTE!😭
Gannets eat these baby turtles like a free "all you can eat" buffets...
As we used to say when watching a show like this “Goooooooooo”!!
They head for the beach.
I have a little silver turtle on a chain, with an Eiffel Tower and a Teddy bear .
We watched a video on this on “Nature”, I think it was . “Go,,, go , go” we said !!
I wear a necklace every day that has a turtle charm!!
They came out confused because of that light on his head. The turtle immediately rush towards the brightest thing around them, which is the moonlight off the ocean
So glad human beings are at least good for a couple of things :)
Who else was coming here for baby turtles getting merc’d and when it didnt’t happen were like WTF?!?!😂😂
I recently had opportunity for released baby turtle and that's so amusing, there really brave

Moving the eggs to a protected nest allows more of the hatchlings to survive to reach the ocean. I participated in a volunteer trip which collected eggs to move to a protected hatchery. This meant that the nests were monitored to regulate the temperature so the eggs wouldn’t get too hot, helped to keep human poachers away, kept many animals, insects & crabs which like to feed on eggs & hatchlings away, and as the nests hatched, we guarded the hatchlings as they made their way to the sea.
My other comment is that the guy narrating this piece appears to be wearing a headlamp with a white light. One should NEVER use a white light when the hatchlings are surfacing and trying to reach the ocean at night. Nor should anyone use a white light when tracking a female sea turtle as she makes her way to lay her eggs. The white light confuses the turtles into thinking it is the moon & they may head away from the ocean. If a light is absolutely necessary, it should be red.
No White light was used in filming this documentary, except for when the sat tags were being deployed
Don’t interfere with nature, dumbass
Fun fact: some of these little babies are probably all grown up now!
Doubtful five years is nothing for sea turtles they can take up to twenty years to reach full maturity.

What crazy is that they've a long lifespan. Normally animals with a short lifespan will depend a lot on their instincts.
Yo baby turtles hitting differntly lately daaaaamn

I wonder how they know as soon as their born that they’re just supposed to walk to the sea. Like...nobody told them “Hey this is where to go” it’s like they just know. HOW?
