NYPD Adopts the SafeWrap™ System (Patent Pending Worldwide)

  • It took five NYPD cops several minutes to arrest me with conventional prone restraint. It was so chaotic that they didn’t even realize I had a knife (even after I pulled it out and started stabbing people).
Conversely, it only took me and and Tom a minute to deplete our subject’s will to fight using the SafeWrap System, and even though we let him stash the knife during his attempt, at no point was he able to access it or use it. We used no joint locks, no chokes, no pressure points, no chest compression and we were talking to him the entire time.
Historically, law enforcement officers have always rushed to pronate the subject during a multiple-officer arrest, but we now know that prone restraint is problem, not the solution.
Listen to what the top NYPD instructors had to say after only two hours of SafeWrap training.
Imagine what different world it would be if every first responder spoke the SafeWrap language such that any two people could interact with one another to safely and effectively restrain an aggressive, suicidal or emotionally disturbed person.
We need the leaders to realize that it’s time for a change.
If you agree, please share this video and let’s save some lives.
The SafeWrap System is Patent Pending Worldwide and cannot be used or taught without a license. To obtain a license one must first complete the SafeWrap Instructor Certification Program.
Join us for the inaugural SafeWrap Instructor Certification Program October 7-8, 2024, at Gracie University HQ in Torrance, California.

Why? NY will just let the criminal go, anyway

After twenty years on the job I can tell you this will go out the window within seconds. NYPD doesn’t Train enough and the guys who train will get thrown off by the guys who don’t train.

I realize this is for cops but I would not want to be on the ground in a real street situation. It is very dangerous. Should only be used if you KNOW that the guy you are subduing has no friends or allies (girlfriends, etc) in the area who could come in on you.

I really don't think you'll get a patent on this in the UK, nor be able to enforce a license for using a physical technique in the UK. It looks really good, but I think the "Patent Pending Worldwide" is a very US-centric view of what can be patented.

I feel bad for NYPD being screwed over by dimwit politicians/ clueless citizen review boards who place ridiculous restrictions, such as the diaphragm law, on their arrest and control techniques because the politicians themselves have never had to arrest a combative suspect. I do hope this helps the actual officers out there.

Every police department should practice this, and BJJ in general.

Fine for NYPD, where backup is seconds away. Not so much for small town or rural areas where officers can be on their own for many minutes before backup. Looks like it takes a minimum of 2 officers, & maybe more.

Let's make it safe for people who dont cooperate with law enforcement. Now you don't have to worry about getting hurt so anyone can not cooperate every time. This method is only good so the officer won't lose a nonsense lawsuit so easily. Another thing is this looks like multiple officers need to do it together so it doesn't work if you are by yourself. What really needs to happen is if someone is not cooperating and then something goes wrong then the officer is not responsible for the outcome. If someone is cooperating and then something goes wrong then the officer is responsible. People's safety should not be reliant on the physical capabilities of an officer or a group of officers. The person who is not cooperating is the one creating a dangerous situation. Period.
