I'm not against having a separate DAP, but the feature set I'd demand of a DAP puts the price point way too high to justify, us the added inconvenience of carrying/charging a second device. Basically for my use case the cheapest DAP I'd want is about $600, which is close to what I'd pay for a phone, so yeah... Not buying another device which would amount to being a second phone just to play higher quality audio.
Very entertaining as always, as well as super-informative. A great review. A few years ago went from my Note 5 to the iPhone 7 Plus. That lasted a week. No, you need to have extremely sensitive ears to notice the difference. I have tested it with my iPhone. My E10C sounded better when connected directly to the headphone jack. If you have an iPhone please don't buy this. iPhones already have pretty good DAC, at least better than BTR1K. I have not tested on Androids but when I tested this with my laptop I noticed vocals were slightly more pronounced but the bass was reduced in order to achieve it. Juan.. It would be very interesting if you could do a review of the iPhone Xs Max lineout sound quality. I found it very bad compared even to that of the iPhone X .. one of the main reasons I returned the XS max as my in car sound quality means a lot to me..
@@SomeGadgetGuy Agree. The (same) lightning adaptor should perform the same. I have a hard time finding info regarding how audio is output through ligthning.. Obviously the lightning dongle is a DAC.. and IMO a terrible one .. but there must also exist an internal DAC (for firing the internal speakers) and I think this is output directly through lightning... Because when I cable connect my iPhone 6S plus, iPhone X (and when I still had it the iPhone Xs MAX) they all sound(ed) very different when connected in my car. Iphone X the best, then 6S plus and by a far margin Xs MAX the worst. This all makes me believe the sound is transferred analog through the lightning plug - as the digital output should be the the same given the rest of the setup is exactly the same and bit rates etc still are the same.. Perhaps I am one the last people in the world (still) using this since I cannot find much on google about this ... I just sincerely hope next years iPhone will sound better as sound quality is pivotal
I like the HD25's because they're built around broadcast standards. I don't think I'd say their tops for music listening, but they clamp on your head hard, clamp your ears down, block a LOT of environment noise, and are SUPER durable. I got them for field recording and location shooting. So healthy yes, in the sense that they help you listen at a lower volume, but maybe not the best for a general media experience.
JuanBagnell I can't agree more, I've had their aluminum "cousin" the amperior for a few years so far and just recently replaced some worn out parts. That's including the cable - with a steel hd25 cable and it's a great piece. They are my everlasting portable cans!
Hi Juanbagnel appreciate if you can include detail mic voice quality in your future video (w graph, noise cancelling performance etc). I have fiio btr3 but not sure why voice abit muted and cVc noise cancelling seems like didn't work. My own voice abit muted but high pitch background sound abit loud. Fyi I paired with oneplus 6.

Those IEMs look like the KZs. Which model is it? I'm guessing you like them a lot. Review perhaps? Fiio makes nice products.
I really do like my ES4. Crazy great bang for buck.
Need help. I'm trying to run aux cord from phone to a amp. Then Bluetooth to my 3m work tunes to make louder. And help appricated
I build this into my Sennhieser HD25 to make them wireless. Really great and relatively budget solution to make good sounding wireless headphones. I am willing to share pictures and guide how to do it if anyone is interested, it is relatively easy.
I have asked this question to a few different channels and no answers. Does the Btr1k allow u to hook up bluetooth earbuds or headphones to it ? I know its a silly question but its confusing to people new to Bluetooth headphones 🤯
NOt really. Not unless the headphones have a cabled option, but BT doesn't really work well for a wireless daisy chain.
Hey @JuanBagnell Have you tried using this for music from phone to Aux In jack wireless in your car? Or better yet the BTR3 with LDAC? (Or even better yet the Earstudio ES100)
Hey Juan die hard fan of you from India
:-)
Will this work for the solo beats pro?
noob question: I just purchased this and an arctis pro wired headset for computer use because its much cheaper than the actual wireless version of the arctis pro. Will it work the same way as my planned alternative way on going wireless? And will it also bypass my headphone/ pc's mic to automatically use the dac/amp's mic?
What IEM's are these in this video!????????
Hey what do you think of Benq zowie vital USB dac. Would it a good deal if you can get for $95 instead of $165 (my laptop headphone jack is busted so need way to use my headphones)
ill stick with my V20 and headphone sockets ...
V20 is still a champ. Been telling music fans for the last year, pick one up as a back up media-only gadget.
@@SomeGadgetGuy ye you can get a refurbished lg v 20 for 300~200
@@KueeRambles Got mine on eBay for$110 used, seems perfect as secondary and media device (v30)
i love the sound of the Btr1k. does anyone know how to sync the device with the fiio app so that i can use the EQ? it will like with my iphone 11 but not with the app? frustrating ??
How about the battery life??? The Bluetooth and NFC connection... how about it? You didnt touch on those...
Juan.. It would be very interesting if you could do a review of the iPhone Xs Max lineout sound quality. I found it very bad compared even to that of the iPhone X .. one of the main reasons I returned the XS max as my in car sound quality means a lot to me..
Interesting. I wouldn't think it would be much different. Using the same dongle as the X, 8, and 7 right?
@@SomeGadgetGuy Agree. The (same) lightning adaptor should perform the same.
I have a hard time finding info regarding how audio is output through ligthning.. Obviously the lightning dongle is a DAC.. and IMO a terrible one
.. but there must also exist an internal DAC (for firing the internal speakers) and I think this is output directly through lightning...
Would this thing power the Marshall Major 2 headphones?
Does the NFC tag turn on the device as well as pair
Will be nice to review fiio Btr3
hi do you think with this fiio to adapt it to my ibasso dx50 not bluetooth?
I'm definitely buying these, but I can't find them on amazon. de . BtW are those Sennheiser HD25's you showed healthy for my hearing or not?
You should review the FiiO BTR3, it is the successor to this one and supports aptX HD and LDAC
I think the BTR1k came after the BTR3.
I'm going to be using the BTR3 to see if I can test which codec really is better between LDAC and APTXHD.
Can we use earphone mic when connected to it...?
Nope. I haven't found a BT transmitter like this which does switch over to the headset mic. If you find one, please let me know.
Can I use this w/ wire on my laptop whose audio chipset is fried?
Will it show up as a separate device.
Anyone know the highest impedance this can drive? When cabled I mean.
why didnt you just review the btr3? 30 dollars more but smaller and battery lasts long and supports LDAC and NFC
I have the mBTR instead of this one. Lovely unit
I'll take a look at it.
@@SomeGadgetGuy wow didn't expect for you to answer. I'm sold, just become ur patreon. Good luck forward.
Does it work with computers over PC? (Windows or Mac)
Does it support dual audio?
I like the ones that sony makes. But TBH I haven't used a wired earphone for a decade now.
Really?
@@krishtrinity yup. Been using Bluetooth for audio all this time.
Hey Juan, is this low latency enough over bluetooth that you can watch movies?
Kinda? There's still a delay, but it's not terrible.
@@SomeGadgetGuy thanks for the reply. Is it bad enough that you cannot watch videos with dialogue or is it manageable?
Imma buy this as an all in one solution for on the go and as a replacement for my laptops shitty ass high noise floor soundcard
Besides very few exceptions, phone s never had high quality audio components inside. And btw this is a so so product. The new btr3 is where its at.
So how can we enable aptx low latency on our phones?
What headphones are those
Am I loosing my mind or didn't you do a great video on ripping your own CDs in flac? 😅 Can't find it anywhere...
Looking at the Fiio X5 since you flashed it on cam lol. I wonder if I have enough cash.
I love that little brick, but since it came out, I'd also look at an LG V20. You might be able to find one cheaper, and it's a MUCH more powerful multi-media device with similar audio performance.
@@SomeGadgetGuy Interesting.
