The UFC always recognized Nate’s star power, they just learned early on that they couldn’t control him the way they could other stars.. Dana was high on Nate when he first won TUF..

a lot of people including myself as a teenager, looked at Nate as not a good striker.. well he quickly changed my mind when I saw him in the UFC (I saw him on TUF first) the dude can strike as good as the rest. hes not as strong, hes not as fast, hes not as technical but he is a natural at fighting and his timing and faints are great.. I love me some Nate Diaz
I'm re watching it right now and i don't know how you wouldn't give Nick the first round. He landed a bunch of big shots and Carlos basically only landed leg kicks
Think it's big mistake to think this dude can't box already . I know from the outside he may look a bit loose and sloppy but he knows what he is doing timing wise . Rarely takes a full punch to the head , he's slipping and moving , and he connects a LOT. You aren't going to gas him and he's going to tenderize you for the first rounds until you get frustrated and start making mistakes and that's when the Diaz's start sitting down on their punches .

Right!!! Early in nates career he didn't use h same methods until he adopted his brothers style of attrition even though they are different fighters. Like you said there's nobody in the ufc that can gas Nate period. He runs marathons and triathlons on a regular. This and his tenacity and pace are his advantages. That's not forgetting Richard Perez as a boxing coach and a Gracie blackbelt.

The thing about Nate I think everyone can agree on is that no mater win or lose,he will go the distance w an opponent and he never changes up like most fighters do after a loss .Some guys literally cry,Nate never will.
