Pandit Venkatesh Kumar holds a Doctoral degree in Indian classical music from the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, one of the most austere institutions of Indian classical music in India. He has authored a text book that has been made a part of the academic syllabus of colleges running under the aegis of the Government of Karnataka. He is the recipient of many a state award including the Padmashri - the highest civilian award of the Government of India conferred upon him for his contribution towards the Kannada Folk repertoire.

Sarangi mastero is doing hindrance to pt venkatesh kumar ji singing
Yes, He is very talented player, great musician... but...he is following way too closely, interfering with the main vocalist's thought... there is a fine balance of playing slightly behind, that too the important pieces. Also, the hindustani paddhathi doesnt allow for accompanying saathis to just go freelance when "they" want - it has to be with the "sign" by the main artiste when he needs a moment of rest. There was one moment where he just went overboard to the end of the sarangi range - I think that was unnecessary there. He can show his talent in a solo concert.
